The Bits & Bytes Series - Lola Lafia

Hosted by Alki Giavridis

Today's guest is the extraordinary Lola Lafia, who studies Computer Science and Architecture at Columbia but took a year off from university to co-found Schefs. ✨

Schefs is a mission-driven platform that invites university students from all around the world to lead and join themed conversations on diverse topics, from astrophysics, to music, philosophy and what the world will look like in 300 years🚀🎸. It is a new space for casual, organic and real-time discussion amongst people that may have never even met. In this way, Schefs pushes up against passive and shallow interactions on existing social networks and knocks down barriers to knowledge and ideas. Schefs has hosted over 350 events with nearly 1,000 students from over 90 global universities.

We talk to Lola about everything from the power of platforms, to performance art, the meaning of success, and imaginary cities. She shares the story behind the birth of Schefs as well as its unique name.

Tune in to find out more! 🎧🎙
