    Vulnerability

    Vulnerability

In this episode we dive into the topic of vulnerability and how it can be used as a political tool. We also touch on some cliche narratives like, ‘there is power in vulnerability’, to question if we ever related to this. As feminists, how do we make vulnerability something that empowers women, rather than igniting further oppression?

At Maneuvering we discuss topics like feminism, anti-racism, mental health, friendships, identity and much more. We also feature our friends occasionally and exchange personal stories that fuels their politics.

Why do Women hate other Women?

Why do Women hate other Women?

Women are socialised to believe that if we observe the rules of the patriarchy, it will be kinder to us and we will benefit from it - this is internalised misogyny. In this episode we dig deep into our thoughts and past experiences to answer the question: why are women sexist towards other women? You will also enjoy a short excerpt of a personal essay Shanah has written about internalised misogyny in the South-Asian community.

Books mentioned: ‘Not That Bad’ by Roxanne Gay and ‘The Glass Essay’ by Anne Carson.

At Maneuvering we discuss topics like feminism, anti-racism, mental health, friendships, identity and much more. We also feature our friends occasionally and exchange personal stories that fuels their politics.

    Waves of Feminism

    Waves of Feminism

In this episode we unpack the waves of feminism from the first wave in the early 20th century to present day third wave movements. We question what we were taught in school about the suffragette movement, and sprinkle in some much needed intersectionality to the waves of feminism. We also explore some other forms of feminism like postcolonial feminism and womanism.

Books mentioned: Feminism Interrupted by Lola Olufemi
