Skin and Self-Esteem with Dr Shari Marchbein

Skin and Self-Esteem with Dr Shari Marchbein

Today's episode is fascinating because we are exploring the connection between our skin and self-esteem and what factors are influencing this delicate relationship in the modern era. Digitalization is fast, and we're constantly being bombarded with so many interpretations of beauty and a post pandemic world has left self esteem at record lows. I was interested to speak to the incredible New York City board certified dermatologist, Dr. Shari Marchbein, who is also an assistant professor at NYU School of Medicine, to discuss this relationship in greater depth.
I quiz her about how technology is affecting our skin and consequently our self-esteem. Dr. Marchbein is a global leader in our field for the treatment of acne and rosacea who has won awards and published multiple articles, I thought she'd be the perfect person to share her perspective of the trends happening and how she looks after the mind and skin of her clientele.

Skin and Makeup with Dr Heather Woolery-Lloyd

Skin and Makeup with Dr Heather Woolery-Lloyd

If you’re one of those people who can’t imagine a day without makeup? I can definitely relate. For many people wearing make up calms them down and the simple act of putting on a bold lipstick may be the first step in doing something that relieves their anxiety. However, make up can sometimes be harmful to your skin’s health and can lead to acne, ageing, oiliness and dryness. Today, I am talking to Dr Heather Woolery-Lloyd, an internationally recognised expert in skin care and the creator of the Specific Beauty skincare line, about the confidence conflict surrounding makeup, some of the unfriendly components in everyday makeup and how this can ultimately lead to skin problems.
So whilst make up might be able to soothe an anxious mind, it’s important to love and take care of your skin. And as the world of make up is ever expanding it’s now more important than ever to consider the emotional and psychological impacts of what we are putting on our faces each day.

BONUS EPISODE: Skin and Sun with Nadine Artemis

BONUS EPISODE: Skin and Sun with Nadine Artemis

On today’s special bonus episode, I am thrilled to be speaking to Nadine Artemis, creator of Living Libations Skincare and the author of Renegade Beauty: Reveal and Revive Your Natural Radiance, which was named one of “The Top 10 Books on Skin Care” by The Strategist of New York Magazine. In this episode, Nadine advocates for a healthy and happy relationship with the sun and teaches people to be more aware of what chemicals are in their sunscreen, rather than the sun itself. As she explains in this episode, it really is all about finding the perfect balance.
For decades we have been shying away from the sun, given its ties to skin cancer and premature aging. But a growing body of scientific research suggests that completely shunning sunlight isn’t such a good idea. Not only does sun elevate mood, improve sleep and promote bone growth, it can also help strengthen the immune system. But before you toss away your sunscreen and hit the rays, it’s important we learn to find the right balance between the healing and beneficial components of the sun and shielding ourselves from too much exposure.

Skin and SPF with Dr Sam Bunting

Skin and SPF with Dr Sam Bunting

On today’s episode of the Mind Your Skin podcast, I am joined by Dr Sam Bunting who will share the facts behind the sun’s impact on the skin. The skin and sun debate is a big one and while we all know the sun’s rays can be harmful to our skin, many studies have shown that not having enough sun exposure can cause the levels of our happiness hormone to dip and can even result in a bad night’s sleep.
Dr Sam Bunting is one of London’s leading skin specialists who has over 20 years in clinical dermatology experience. Following her role as the Global Brand Ambassador for Dolce & Gabbana Skincare in 2015, she launched a YouTube channel which has over 15 million views. She is now the founder of her own skincare line, Dr Sam’s Skincare. Today Dr Sam is going to teach us all about why suncream is a crucial part of your skincare routine and how to strike the balance when it comes to the sun and taking advantage of it’s mood lifting benefits.
