#8 Enhancing Your Life Through the Power of the Brain with Celest Pereira

I can't believe we've come to the end of our first Move Your Soul podcast series! We've had some phenomenal guests along the way and I'm so grateful for the support you've shown. This week we're going out with a BANG as I host one of my favourite conversations to date with the incredible Celest Pereira.

Celest is not only a dear friend of mine but is a mentor to myself and so many other teachers in the wellness industry. She is a yoga teacher, physiotherapist and previously a dancer. She is currently studying neuroscience and is passionate about sharing her learnings through classes and educational workshops.

What I love so much about Celest is that she has this amazing energy and passion for the human mind and body. Her unwavering dedication to education in the field is something truly inspiring. As an anatomy geek she weaves this into her teachings in a way that is fun and exciting. This coupled with her innate ability to break down complicated concepts into bite sized and easily applicable methods is why she has the reputation she has in the industry. On top of that she's just one of my favourite humans and all round woman crush all day everyday!

    Through this episode we talk:

✨How we can use neuroscience to help enhance our lives

✨How the mind, body and breath are interconnected

✨How Celest has implemented learning from her neauroscience course into her own movement and mindfulness training

✨What she envisages the focus on the fitness industry looking like in years to come

✨How her teachings have changed through the application of breath and brain training techniques

✨What is the most important thing we can be doing as humans to help our long term health right now

✨Celests key learnings, resources, favourite book and biggest sources of inspiration.

I hope you love this episode as much as I enjoyed creating it. Whenever I come away from conversations with Celest I find that I've learned so much! Check out the pod today to get your geek on with us!

As I mentioned this will be the last podcast for a little while as I settle into motherhood. The Move Your Soul membership however is still very much there for you to be able to support you to explore your own movement and mindfulness journey whenever you need it! Whilst I'm away with all things baby the membership will be running fully with monthly updates and on hand support on email with any help you need!

#3 How to Stay Motivated to Adhere to Consistent Strength Training with Andy Vincent

#3 How to Stay Motivated to Adhere to Consistent Strength Training with Andy Vincent

This week it gives me great pleasure to welcome renown personal trainer Andy Vincent to the Move Your Soul pod. Andy has been a coach for 20 years, working as a trainer in London, Miami, New York, LA and currently based in Ibiza working as an online coach.

What I love and respect about Andy is his unwavering dedication to continued education. Over the span of his career, he has amassed a vast level of education working with some of the leading authorities in their field from UKSCA, NASM, AIM, FRC, EXOS, Precision Nutrition and more. He's also worked alongside some of the best strength & conditioning coaches, performance coaches, bodybuilders and biomechanics specialists that the world has to offer.

    Key Discussions

    What is strength training?
What correlation there is (if any) between strength training, weight loss, calorie burning and skill development
Where to start? & What are simple things we can think about for effective strength training
How can stay motivated to adhere to consistent strength training?
How can we prevent injury through our training
What key factors do we need to think in our training when running?

"You can scale that stuff up. We get so focused on again, even if the goal could be a really good one, like you might want to run a 10K. We get so focus on the 10k run you actually forget about you've got to manage your body throughout that process and make sure you don't get injured.

Make sure that what you're doing is actually within the capability of your joints, because yeah, you might hit your 5K run, but if the cost of that was like,long-term achilles tendonitis, then It's not worth it. The 10k run in a few months time is not worth it." - Andy Vincent

#2 How to Tune Your Mentality with Physicality to give Yourself a Positive Relationship with Movement

#2 How to Tune Your Mentality with Physicality to give Yourself a Positive Relationship with Movement

Today I'm excited to welcome Daisy Hughes, a fitness instructor (specialising in Calisthenics), personal trainer, yoga teacher, and trainee-stunt woman (including Rock Climbing, Gymnastics and Boxing). She has a particular passion for teaching women who are looking for something different from the world of fitness, focusing on what it means to train as a woman and feel empowered by what can be achieved through movement and a different outlook on fitness.

    Key subjects covered:

Why it's important to empower yourself mentally to excel physically.
Daisys journey to becoming a stunt woman and trainer.
Daisys learnings along her path, from competing for her country as a triathlete to ultra marathon accomplishments.
How to deal with inevitable injuries along your fitness journey and effective ways to help prevent them.
Why it's particularly important for women to empower themselves through movement.
Where to start with calisthenics training
Daisys motives behind her stunt women training
Top resources she's found helpful for her learning

"Often skill  becomes much bigger motivation than anything aesthetic because it's something that you can be more playful with. To make a goal outside of yourself is really important, which in turn makes it much more enjoyable." - Daisy Hughes
