Welcome to the My Hormones My Health Podcast! My name is Laura, and I have PMDD.
Come with me as I navigate my way through the highs, the lows and the even lowers of my hormones and health. I can't promise I'll have all the answers, but at the heart of everything I do, I'll be aiming to spread a message of hope that a life with hormone and health issues can be compatible with a life of joy.
This podcast won't only be looking at PMDD, but also taboo subjects such as periods and mental health, and I'll be joined by guest speakers who will share their own experiences with these issues.

Episode 13 - PMDD and Fibromyalgia

Episode 13 - PMDD and Fibromyalgia

Today I am joined by Steph - a fellow PMDD Warrior who also lives with fibromyalgia. According to FMA UK, fibromyalgia is a chronic condition of widespread pain and profound fatigue. The cause of fibromyalgia is not yet known and there is no cure.
On this episode, we discuss how living with chronic conditions such as fibro and PMDD, can affect things like parenting and friendships, as well as other areas.
For more information about fibromyalgia, click here, and as always, if you're just learning about PMDD, head to IAPMD.org.

Episode 12 - Being a Young Person with PMDD

"Be proud of who you are and just know that it’s shitty, it’s scary but there will be a day when you can say 'I’ve got through this.'"
On this episode I’m joined by Nichole. Nichole is 22, she epitomises what it is to be a PMDD Warrior, and is currently going through chemical menopause.
Just so you know this episode does talk about suicidal thoughts, self harm, and infertility, so it might be hard to hear in places, but that’s why  it’s so important that this young voice is heard.

"I am not just a uterus to create children."
Imogen joins me to talk about her experiences with PMDD, PCOS, dyslexia and diabetes - and provides great insight into invisible conditions and how they intersect with society's perceptions of what it means to be disabled.
Plus, I've got a little bit of news about why I've been so quiet recently...

Episode 10 - Running for Mental Health

Episode 10 - Running for Mental Health

"Running makes us believe we're capable of getting through the hard stuff, and creates a space for us to acknowledge how we feel."
After battling with her own mental health issues, Jessica used her love of running to create Run Talk Run - a weekly 5k which gives people the chance to talk, run and support each other. On this episode we discuss our love/hate relationships with running, and the impact it can have on mental health, and the conversation surrounding it.

A refreshing listen about a subject that needs to be heard about. Keep up the good work Laura.

Open & honest about the highs as well as the lows

Life with PMDD is far from easy but seeing/hearing about how it is possible to have a life full of joy along side a hormonal condition is a breath of fresh air as opposed to the ‘you’re doomed forever’ mentality that I’ve heard others have towards PMDD. I genuinely look forward to hearing more.
