100% Aston Villa’s Perfect Storm that the Pundits Don’t See

Aston Villa Return from the International Break with Opportunity Knocking

Aston Villa Return from the International Break with Opportunity Knocking

If you're only as good as your last game then Aston Villa are amazing, after their 7-2 victory over Liverpool. They'll need to keep that kind of form up away to Leicester City, as they return from the international break. Last season, the Foxes managed to score four goals in each of the two league games against Villa, so this will be a good marker to see how far Villa have progressed.

We catch up on Villa events over the international break from Grealish's latest England adventure to pricey PPV Premier League matches, while both Jean Makoun and Stephen Warnock get the Under or Overrated treatment.

Episode 7-2: Aston Villa Reborn After Baptising Liverpool

Episode 7-2: Aston Villa Reborn After Baptising Liverpool

7-2. Aston Villa dismantled Liverpool in spectacular fashion at Villa Park on Sunday night. This is MOMS podcast's first impressions of a result that shocked the football world.

This was a Liverpool team that have been crowned League Champions, European Champions and World Club Champions in the last couple of seasons. While the result is unlikely to have much affect on Liverpool's fortunes this season, it's a huge clue to how Villa could progress this term.

With the team's attacking threat newly charged by the arrival of Ollie Watkins and Ross Barkley, who both have helped Jack Grealish to finally go through the gears at Villa, anything is possible. With Emiliano Martinez and Matty Cash strengthening further a better organised defence, the signs are positive for Dean Smith's men, who are now seven games unbeaten in the Premier League and 100% this season.

Before we get ahead of ourselves though, let's reflect on an incredible game of football.

Ross Barkley's Signing Means Upgraded Aston Villa Team and Ambition

While Aston Villa's second string limped out of the League Cup with a woeful performance against Stoke City, Villa's supporters quickly focused on the upgrade their first team received with the surprise signing of Chelsea's England International midfielder Ross Barkley.

In this additional episode to 116, we look back at Villa's cup exit and forward to the merits of Villa's new loan man, and what it means in the bigger picture of Villa's season.

    Enjoy!

Villa Begin Season in Top 4 as McGinn Revs Up

Villa Begin Season in Top 4 as McGinn Revs Up

It's four wins out of four for Aston Villa in all competitions for the 2020/21 season, as a 3-0 away win at Fulham sees them now nicely perched in the Top Four of the Premier League.

We discuss the reality of Villa's bright start to the season, the return of John McGinn to his old self, the rise of Villa's back four, and the key to get the best out of Jack Grealish and Conor Hourihane.

As well as the Fulham win, we also look back at the Bristol City cup win, Villa's new third kit, the Premier League handball situation and Gareth Barry's new sport.

While 'Underrated or Overrated' takes a look at Neil Cox and Richard Dunne.

    Enjoy!

Informed; balanced; humorous

Excellent pod. The only joy to an indifferent season.

Stick with it

If I'm being honest when I first listened to the podcast I wasnt too keen. However, it has really grown on me and some of the more recent editions have been really interesting and insightful. So well worth a listen but if you are not sure immediately that it is for you give it a few editions. So in short, highly recommended!

Long time listener and MOMS Patron. David and Chris are fantastic on this podcast. Always spot on with their analyse on all things Villa. Wish they could go into the dressing room every week and get the players to listen as well. Keep up the great work lads. UTV !!
