De Bruyne bags four at Molineux | Wolves 1-5 City

De Bruyne bags four at Molineux | Wolves 1-5 City

Two games left to play, and City need four points to be Premier League champions again. A 5-1 win away at Wolves on Wednesday edged City closer to the title. Kevin De Bruyne scored four – including a first-half treble all scored with his weaker left foot. It was masterclass from the Belgian. Raheem Sterling added a fifth late on from close range. It was a superb performance. De Bruyne's hat-trick within 24 minutes is the third earliest scored from the start of a match in Premier League history. It’s a crowded field but this may well have been his best performance of the season. It means City have scored ten goals in our last two Premier League matches. We are three points ahead of second placed Liverpool and our goal difference is superior by seven. After the game, we heard from De Bruyne and Guardiola – and joining us in the Matchday Live studio were Shaun Goater and Shaun Wright-Phillips.  Our GDPR privacy policy was updated on August 8, 2022. City extend Premier League lead | City 5-0 Newcastle

City extend Premier League lead | City 5-0 Newcastle

A hugely significant weekend in the race for the Premier League title race ended with City beating Newcastle 5-0. After a gut-wrenching Champions League defeat to Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on Wednesday, City could not have had a better weekend as we extended our lead at the top of the Premier League table to three points with three matches of the season remaining. Liverpool drew 1-1 with Tottenham at Anfield on Saturday night, before a dominant performance at the Etihad saw us beat Newcastle 5-0. It saw a huge swing in goal difference, with City now four goals better off than Liverpool. This was a classy display from City, with the character we showed in bouncing back so brilliantly very encouraging indeed. Raheem Sterling scored two, with Laporte, Rodri and Foden also in the scoresheet. It was total control throughout for City. After the game, we heard from Jack Grealish and Pep Guardiola and joining us in the Matchday Live studio were Steve Howey and Shaun Goater.  Our GDPR privacy policy was updated on August 8, 2022. All-time Champions League classic | City 4-3 Real Madrid

All-time Champions League classic | City 4-3 Real Madrid

An all-time Champions League classic. Manchester City 4-3 Real Madrid, with more of the same likely next week at the Santiago Bernabeu. It was a breath-taking night at the Etihad on Tuesday as City beat Real Madrid in our semi-final first leg. Quite how we will only go to Spain with a one-goal lead is anyone’s guess. City were far superior. It was a pulsating match – one which was impossible to take your eyes off. City raced a two-goal lead – the first time in Champions League history Real Madrid had conceded two in the opening 11 minutes of a game – before Karim Benzema halved the deficit before half time. Phil Foden made it 3-1 and became only the second English player to score in a Champions League semi-final before the age off 22, before Vinicus Jnr again got one back for Real. Bernardo Silva made it 4-2 before Benzema struck again. After the game, we heard from Pep Guardiola and Ruben Dias – and joining us in the Matchday Live studio were Shaun Goater and Shaun Wright-Phillips.   Our GDPR privacy policy was updated on August 8, 2022. Jesus bags four in Watford rout | City 5-1 Watford

Jesus bags four in Watford rout | City 5-1 Watford

City 5-1 Watford. Another step towards the Premier League title successful negotiated. It was a special day for Gabriel Jesus, as he bagged his first ever Premier League hat-trick. In fact, he scored four and assisted Rodri’s goal, too. There was little doubt who the man of the match was. It leaves City in control of the Premier League title race with five matches left to play. This win moved us four points ahead of Liverpool, although they have a game in hand against Everton on Sunday. The equation is simple: win all five and we will be champions for the fourth time in five seasons. City are now the first team in Premier League history to win 15 consecutive matches against the same opponent. And Gabriel Jesus has become the first player to score four goals in a single Premier League game since Tottenham's Son Heung-min vs Southampton in September 2020. After the game, we spoke to Man of the Match Gabriel Jesus and the mastermind behind it all, Pep Guardiola – and joining us in the Matchday Live studio were Paul Dickov, Michael Brown and City fan Steven McInerney.  Our GDPR privacy policy was updated on August 8, 2022. City remain in title driving seat | City 2-2 Liverpool

City remain in title driving seat | City 2-2 Liverpool

A fantastic game at the Etihad leaves City one point clear of Liverpool in what is turning out to be another very tense finale to a Premier League season. City were excellent and will feel a hint of disappointment not taking all three points, but to be in the driving seat at this stage is a real positive. De Bruyne opened the scoring – he now has six goals in his last six matches – only for Diogo Jota to equalise. Gabriel Jesus re-established City’s lead with a fine finish from Joao Cancelo’s superb delivery, but Sadio Mane’s goal just after half time brought Liverpool level again. After the game, we heard from Pep Guardiola and Kyle Walker – and joining us in the Matchday Live studio were Shaun Goater and David James.  Our GDPR privacy policy was updated on August 8, 2022.
