From a scientist’s wife...

Thank you! My husband and most of my friends are scientists. My husband is an ocean colour remote sensing scientist and he uses satellites to basically keep an eye on the health of our oceans, which is particularly relevant when discussing climate change. He focuses on phytoplankton which are tiny organisms that provide one out of every two breaths of oxygen you breathe which is just crazy!

He often feels like hitting his head against his desk when he works so hard to make sense of incredible amounts of data only to have certain loud individuals claim “it isn’t real”. Thank you for championing folks like him and enlightening the world with humour and kindness. It’s refreshing.

If we ever met, I’m quite sure I’d want to be your friend.

The best

Endlessly entertaining and always makes me smile with the knowledge I gain. Alie is great. As a humanities student I always thought science wasn’t for me but ologies has me so stoked on STEM I’ve signed up for online bio classes with the Cambridge University!

Favourite podcast

Great podcast filled with endlessly fascinating topics; I usually can’t focus well on tasks without something in the background, so this has saved me from binging the same few Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares episodes over and over again and for that I am eternally grateful. Alie is a loveable and engaging host, and I am excited for episodes no matter the topic. Thank you for all your hard work!
