Out There With The Birds

I have listened to, and loved, OTWTB since it started, with the late Bill Thompson III and Ben Lizdas and then after Bill got ill, Ben and Alvaro Jaramillo. I loved the format of two friends, both birders, talking about birds and birding. I loved the chemistry between them and the running jokes and the gentle competition.
However, since Bill died the format has changed and I am afraid I can no longer listen to it - I’ve tried several times and not made it through a full episode. I find the current style very saccharin and the host, Wendy Clark, quite irritating.
The format is so different as to make it a completely different podcast - it is no longer a chat between two old friends (or even new friends). It is now another show with a host who interviews someone about birds and is very much a one way conversation. This is what Bill did much better with ‘This Birding Life’ and what Nate Swick does better still (apologies to Bill’s memory) with the American Birding Podcast. Bill wasn’t just trying to make another ‘This Birding Life’ when he started ‘Out there with the Birds’ but that’s what it has turned into.
Please, please, please can we have a return to the old format - two friends who are serious birders meeting together (electronically or in the flesh) to talk about birds, with each bringing a few questions or subjects that they want to talk about and doing it in a funny but also serious (and not sweary and obnoxious - that’s why I stopped listening to the Birdchick podcast) ways.
Personally I thought Alvaro and Ben did a great job but I guess there may be reasons why they don’t want to do it. Whoever you choose, in my opinion they should be people with a dry sense of humour, a non-irritating voice, definitely be real birders and preferably two people who have known, and liked, each other for some time before starting to do the podcast together. I have heard several people interviewed on Nate Swick’s podcast who I think would be suitable - names that come to mind are Heidi Trudell, Jason Ward, Nick Lund, Eliana Ardila Ardila, Jody Allaire, Molly Adams, Marky Mutchler and of course Ben Lizdas and Alvaro Jaramillo.
I’m sorry for the negative review but it just isn’t the same podcast anymore - I would have given it five stars before
