Bio
Andrew Elkan, born in Saint Louis, Missouri, US, in 1977, moved to California in 1984 and attended college in Santa Cruz, CA. He developed epilepsy as a child but didn’t experience full seizures until adulthood, around the age of 23.

At one point, Andrew had a severe seizure that required inducing a coma to stop the seizures and reduce brain swelling. Unfortunately, after 24 hours without success, they could not bring him out of the coma. He remained in a coma at the ICU in Scripps Hospital, Encinitas, for 28 days.
Upon waking, Andrew spent over a month in the hospital, during which rehabilitation began. He had to relearn basic skills like walking, writing, and reading. After attaining a basic level of functioning, all therapy stopped, leaving Andrew without further physical or emotional support from the hospital.
Facing a long struggle to prove his cognitive disabilities, Andrew eventually met with a federal judge and, with his testimony and neurologist’s input, was granted federal disability status. It took several years after his coma for Andrew to reaccess therapy after obtaining disability assistance.
Experiencing the challenges of navigating disability assistance, paying bills, finding medical help, and securing housing in the United States, Andrew decided to create a support group called “Coma Survivors.” With this group, he aims to provide knowledge, help, and community for coma survivors seeking financial support, housing, medical assistance, or simply understanding and listening ears.
Additionally, Andrew is working towards establishing “The Coma Survivor’s Foundation” to support coma survivors in their unique journeys further. He believes that his experience while in a coma and his survival are unique and valuable, as the experience of being in a coma is one that few individuals encounter.

Bio
Kevin Hall joyfully adopts the titles of dad, grandpa, and papa. Residing with his wife in Rush, NY—a suburb of Rochester—he is a family man with two married children, six grandchildren, and a beloved dog named Pal.
His career spanned over 40 years in the private sector, during which he secured a US Patent, was featured in Forbes magazine, authored several white papers, and received numerous accolades for his contributions.
Now retired and contemplating his next chapter, he turned to writing. In 2022, he published his first two memoir/history books. When queried about his motivation to write, he replies, "It was the persistent curiosity of my grandchildren, always asking, 'What was it like when you were young, grandpa?'"

This week I'm reading from Robert De Filippis' book 'Signals in the Noise: 
Encountering the Limits of Materialist Science - An Exploration of Consciousness and Reality'.

"The Signals in the Noise," groundbreaking theories about consciousness are meticulously explored, presenting an avant-garde perspective that stands to challenge our traditional, materialist viewpoints. The author leads us on an intellectual journey, questioning established materialist scientific norms and bringing forward evidence that defies materialist theories of consciousness.
The book emphasizes that consciousness persists and can even be enhanced when brain activity decreases, supported by numerous research studies involving psychedelics, near-death experiences, and other instances when brain functions are diminished. Bio
As a child, I was the only spiritual person in our family. My grandfather’s death, when I was around eight or nine, made me realize my mortality. My mother was an atheist, and when I asked her what happened when you die, she told me nothing, you just disappear. I was a little kid; I didn’t want to vanish, and I became terrified of death. In my mid-teens, I began studying the various religions, philosophies, and spirituality of the world. I studied their histories and how they got the way they are. I also studied the off-shoot churches and what they taught about death.
In my thirties, I developed a high interest in cosmology that eventually advanced to the other sciences. Today I’m fascinated with the findings of quantum physics, astral physics, studies of the mind, and spiritual Consciousness.
I became a family counselor for almost thirty years and had many years as a workshop facilitator, giving talks, and teaching spirituality. I’m also a Unitarian lay chaplain and officiate at weddings, funerals, and child naming ceremonies. My interest in spiritual learning has not faded and now have over 65 years of growth in that direction.
After retirement, I could finally get interested in what I wanted to do, be a writer. In one story, the hero astral projected. So, I went online to find out if it was even possible for my hero to do what I was proposing. That’s when I found OBEs (Out of Body Experiences) on a website called NDERF.org. Although they researched Near-Death Experiences, there was some information on OBEs as well. However, I got sidetracked when I became fascinated with the underlying profound spiritual knowledge within those reports. After joining the chat group, I became a bit of a regular, at least until Dr. Jeffery Long and his wife, Jody, asked for someone to volunteer to do research, and I put my hand up.
It indeed was a delight to have ended up researching 2500 death experiences. In the beginning, I was interested in the experiences these people were having, but after a while, I was more interested in the spiritual learning within the accounts. The information went together with the years of study I had done and took me much further than I ever imagined.

In this episode I'm talking to Dr. Fredrick Woodard about his book 'Developing Your Supernatural Awareness: Connecting with an Interactive Universe'. 

The challenges of examining the subjective experience of supernatural events prompted me to write this book. In these pages, I present some of my personal history with supernatural experiences and mention key people who influenced me. I talk about my earliest experiences with hypnosis, the study of consciousness, and how I evolved as a professional, as well as how I developed deeper connections to my heritage.
