Podcast to help you navigate change

Podcast to help you navigate change

In this episode we share stories about switching perspectives, evolving ideas and the magic of experiencing new surroundings.

Featuring: Life Kit – "Friendships inevitably shift over time — and during COVID-19, you might be facing more changes than usual. But those shifts in relationships aren't necessarily a bad thing. Life Kit consulted the experts about how to take a hard look at friendships — and how to break up with a pal, if that's the best route to take."

Bodies – "One of the common injustices in many of the stories this season is how the medical establishment and a lot of big structures in our society want us to be one thing. But we are many things, and that can be lonely in a world that doesn't make space for complexity. Bodies is about illuminating every one of those complex layers. And sitting in the chaos of our inner worlds. Not to fix the messiness, but to examine it and honour it."

Every Little Thing – This episode is "celebrating the little things you miss from life before quarantine. Those small joys you can't stop thinking about, in the midst of such big sadness."

The Coup – "In every category, startups are bypassing retailers — and their markups — to sell and ship their products right to your door. And they're giving industry heavyweights a run for their money, doing it. No middlemen — just them, and you. But how are online-only brands, like Glossier and Dollar Shave Club, convincing consumers to buy into one-on-one relationships? And if there's no independent retail worker helping us make the right choices, how are they gaining our trust?"

RomComPods – "After being rejected twice in one month by her ex-fiancé and her tour guide, Claire tries to ignore Matteo and focus on enjoying the last days of the tour. She ends up succeeding and finding her vacation swagger when sexy Luca dances into the picture…"

From there, we go on to explore Canada at large with stories both unknown and uncomfortable (The Secret Life of Canada). Finally, we head to a therapist's office to listen to real people talk about real problems (Other People's Problems).

CBC Podcast Showcase: Demystifying mental health

CBC Podcast Showcase: Demystifying mental health

In this episode of The CBC Podcast Showcase we're trying something different. Instead of picking three clips from three different shows, we're diving deep into one CBC Podcast. We turn the spotlight on Other People's Problems — CBC's resident therapy podcast. Normally, therapy sessions are totally confidential — but this podcast opens the doors with host Hillary McBride. She's a PhD candidate in counselling psychology at the University of British Columbia and the author of the book, Mothers, Daughters, and Body Image: Learning to Love Ourselves as We Are. Unlike other therapy podcasts, that feature one-off sessions between a therapist and a stranger, this one features stories of people who have been seeing McBride for a long time. She knows them, they trust her, and together they want to help demystify mental health.
