Popcorn Parenting is about watching movies with your kids and chatting about them from a Christian perspective. Nate Morgan Locke's done a lot of thinking about this. And James Cary is more than happy to wind him up and let him go. Just don't mention Toy Story 4, okay?

    Inside Out

    Inside Out

What if emotions had emotions? Nate tried to pursued James that Inside Out is a good movie, despite James's reservations about the story telling. They discuss levels of sass, Bing Bong and levels of sadness - plus the usual digressions.

    Monsters Inc

    Monsters Inc

James and Nate talk about the oddly not scary Monsters Inc, world-building, wickedness and Wazowski. And they do the voice. But why can't we let monsters be monsters? And what do we say to our kids when they are scared?

    Toy Story 3

    Toy Story 3

Nate and James are back and where else to start but the next - and, some say, final - Toy Story 3? (We don't talk about Toy Story 4. Well, we try not to.)

How to do you follow a movie which, as James always says, is the perfect movie? James was traumatised by Toy Story 3 - can Nate persuade James to show this movie to his kids. Conversation about parenting, plot and predestination, to infinity and beyond. And back. Yet again.

What I’ve needed

I love being critical of media I’ve watched, and even more so with a Christian slant. My love for children’s films and animated works have meant that I’ve never been able to read proper critical opinion on them, and now here are two wonderful blokes pondering just that. Thanks both!

Hurrah!!

Been so keen for something like this for years, absolutely class - nice fun discussion to have a thoughtful and amusing listen along to. So valued the chat on engaging with the deeper themes available in the films with folks, kids or not!

Love, your local Jesus loving Disney nerd.
