Interesting anecdotes but would be more satisfying if it was more in-depth
Having grown up watching & loving Rob Bottin's ingenious work on movies like "The Thing" & Stan Winston's amazing creations in "The Terminator", I love the subject matter tackled in this podcast. I only wish you guys would delve more deeply into the technical details of how particular problems are solved for a given shot/gag. I realise that this might turn off some listeners, but I have to assume that we're talking about quite a niche audience anyway.
Also, as an animator working in broadcast & film, I think dismissing the CG aspect of VFX work as merely "done on the computer" & "lacking any mystery" is as naïve as branding all the different disciplines & techniques of the practical effects as, say, "that's just a fake head" without acknowledging all the diverse skills required to achieve a successful gag.
I'm glad this podcast exists, as I think the craftsmen & women need to be celebrated. I just don't think the current VFX artists souls be thrown under the bus. God knows that we get shafted by the studios as it is.
Hope I'm not coming across as being negative!
