Iain Dale - Hiding His Sexuality For 20 Years To Nearly Vomiting on Maggie Thatcher
Iain Dale is better known nowadays as the multi award winning broadcaster( who's recently won' Radio Presenter of the Year' twice) and the voice of the most listened to talk radio station in the country - LBC.
However, Iain has had a rich and varied life, from standing three times unsuccessfully to get elected as an MP for the Conservatives, to running his own publishing company, being a shipping journalist, running PR for the ports authority, owning a political bookshop in Westminster, being a lifeguard in Germany, almost being sick on Maggie Thatcher and being former Tory leader David Davis's Chief of Staff.
Today, it was my absolute honour to be able to sit down with Iain for over an hour and discuss the highs and lows of this quite incredible career to date. Iain was incredible generous with his time and even more so with the way in which he recounted his failures, successes and regrets.

A New Class of Interviewing
Host Freddy Clode always manages to second-guess what his listeners are thinking, with his well versed, punctual and elegantly delivered line of questioning, you’ll be asking yourself “can he really be reading all our minds simultaneously?!” Consistently seeking out stories we didn’t know we needed to hear, brining the race-to-the-top- tales of a superbly curated list of guests to life in conversation. He is a joy to listen to.
Brilliant new Pod by ace interviewer
I’ve been looking forward to hearing more from Freddy who, as the ‘straight man’ in the rig biz podcast, is always articulate, funny, warm, and brilliantly researched. Freddy has the knack of developing a lovely connection with his interviewees and this opening gambit did not disappoint in that regard. It must be very gratifying to have your guests say “that such an original question” time and time again. I look forward to his rise to stardom so I can say “I listened to him before everyone...”
What a show!
Really enjoying Fred’s dulcet tones and journalistic flair. Long may this podcast continue
