Just wanted to say how lovely this ep was. Funny but touching too. Nice one Richard.

To summarise: it’s just not funny anymore. To begin, knocking-on for six minutes of adverts is unacceptable. Typically, there is then five minutes of painfully unfunny stand up with only Herring laughing at his own… well… they’re not jokes, so I don’t know why he’s laughing. Halfway through the podcast, you usually get another three minutes of adverts. Just listening to the lack of audience laughter during the show is painful. The quality of guests has nosedived in recent years. The well has truly run dry. If only Herring had some dignity and just walked away. Instead, he feels the need to crowbar in his weak political views in place of jokes. Herring just isn’t likeable anymore. …then there’s four minutes of outro and adverts! The only one having a laugh, literally and figuratively, is Herring.

but like most left wing comedians, he cannot help but shoehorn his politics and his idea of free speech into his shows. Listen to him gleefully fantasising about the deaths of those political figures who do not hold the same “liberal” views as him. The irony is lost on his type of progressive. But he does have a lot of great guests and some absolutely fantastic episodes in the back catalogue, best to skip past the first few minutes of his own standup.
