    RHLSTP 277 - Adam Buxton

#277 Empty W*nk Bank - The Coronavirus has taken out many planned live RHLSTPs (hopefully most will be rescheduled) and destroyed a promising and lucrative 2020 for Richard, but it CAN’T stop us broadcasting. Rich is joined by the guest with the most appearances on RHLSTP, from Norwich, Adam Buxton.

Recorded on the 8th April whilst the fate of the PM hung in the balance they make some bold predictions of how that is going to turn out (apologies if we got it wrong) and how the lockdown is affecting or failing to affect their largely dull lives. Plus Richard reveals some tragic news about his mind’s eye and a Lee and Herring story that he hasn’t even told Stewart about. Adam reveals secrets of competitiveness from his own double act and talks about his high-profile podcast guests. It’s a charming hour and a fitting tribute to either or both men if they don’t survive the epidemic.

RETRO AIOTM (Series 1, Episode 10)

RETRO AIOTM (Series 1, Episode 10)

It’s 14th December 2009 and the first decade of the 21st Century is coming to an end (unless you are a mathematical stickler) and just think how bad things were going to get in the next 10 years. Let’s look back at a more innocent time when we could be more grossly offensive. Check out my Twitch channel at http://twitch.tv/rkherring

The final episode of AIOTM, but will it be the last ever? Rich is being haunted by ghosts of podcasts past and future and wondering if he has had a wonderful life. Dan is aiming for a Christmas number 1 and Emma is walking a marathon. Plus it's sold out, so there should be some sexy action or revealing of genital assemblages. And thank God that people are getting cathedrals slammed into their face and people are stealing our 8 and a half week old material. Will Andrew Collings finally be in the show? Of course he fracking won't! But every slightly successful character from the series will certainly be back!

    RHLSTP 276 - Aisling Bea

    RHLSTP 276 - Aisling Bea

#276 Bill Murray’s Irish Sister - Richard is still buzzing from last week’s podcast. Thank God we only do one a week, or imagine having to follow that! But he has news of his disappointing parenting to move us onwards. His guest is the incredible writer, actor and comedian, Aisling Bea, who didn’t realise that she was being filmed last time she was on.

They chat about working with Paul Rudd, fearing being spied on from above, the incredible outdated sexual politics of How I Met Your Mother, how last minute you can be writing a script and how sweet it must be being on Taskmaster. There’s also some confusion about the lift question and some fierce debate over whether the Coughing Major cheated or not. Plus an insight into Aisling’s incredible showbiz life.

RETRO AIOTM (Series 1, Episode 9)

RETRO AIOTM (Series 1, Episode 9)

It’s coming up to Christmas in 2009 and the innocent young cast of AIOTM have no idea what will hit them in just 10 short years. And that’s for the best I suppose. As usual by listening you are giving funds to the justgiving heckle the virus charity and finally paying the cast for their work. See what madness Richard Herring is up to in 2020 by tuning in to http://twitch.tv/rkherring

Podcast #9 and Richard is conflicted about whether he should be happy or sad that AIOTM has been nominated for a Loaded Lafta and what this means about his relationship with Jesus. Dan gets an unexpected gift from a stranger, whilst Emma is living in a cold and flooded flat, and Christian's mental breakdown seems to be surpassing that of even Herring himself. But while our musician rails against love, Rich is moving in with his girlfriend in order to replace his broken dishwasher and trying to sabotage Andrew Collings' career, even if success will only be a Pyrrhic victory. The world meanwhile goes crazy about Kay, Subo and the death of a rat and all we can do is quote Matthew 6 at it and hope that makes things better. All this is made harder by having to follow Stewart Lee who is clearly superior to us in every way. But has he been nominated for a Loaded Lafta? No, he hasn't. There's another reason for him being the best.

    RHLSTP 275 - Michael Palin

    RHLSTP 275 - Michael Palin

#275 You’ve Got Mail - We’ve been recommissioned again for an amazing 19th series and Richard is exhausted from his final attempt to let the world know when International Men’s Day is and what are you talking about? He always wears a suit. There’s nothing unusual going on. His guest is just some guy from some old sketch show and the first Knight (that says Ni) on the podcast, Sir Michael Palin.

Obviously Rich is in awe and on his best behaviour, but that won’t stop him bringing up one of Michael’s rare career disappointments and nearly derailing everything. But Michael is everything you’d hope for and you can find out what he got paid for his script being used in Sliding Doors, how the Fish Dance went down in North Korea, how Life of Brian might have been Python at its height, the perils of being a mud eater, how Mrs Palin ended up on Saturday Night Live, why Terry Jones was the heart of Python and how this remarkable friendship between writing partners was maintained right to the end. Plus the best impression of Cicero that you’re likely to hear. Will Richard end up in the diary and what terrible things will be said about him…? We will have to wait.

Monthly badgers - your backstage interview includes Michael ad-libbing a brand new scene for Life of Brian which I would say is worth your monthly subscription to the end of time. So sign up to see this - we don’t get many emergency questions on stage, but he did a few in the dressing room. http://gofasterstripe.com/badges

RETRO AIOTM (Series 1, Episode 8)

RETRO AIOTM (Series 1, Episode 8)

Back to 30th November 2009 for this exciting episode of AIOTM, with added adverts to raise money for the cast and other charity cases. Check out Rich on Twitchhttp://twitch.tv/rkherring

AIOTM 8 and Richard's mental balance is about as good as Spike Milligan's after ten times as many Goon Shows, Emma has more tales of actresses shitting, Dan has had his child indoctrinated into the Catholic Church, and Christian has taken up acting. After a week of just watching Battlestar Galactica and playing Countdown will Richard have anything new to say, or will he rely on ever more ancient callbacks? And what's Scott Bakula up to after his week deep inside a short, fat, Somerset man? Oh grow up. Luckily the 9 year-old Herring comes to the rescue with tales of The Thriling Three and we're going to rip Andrew Collings a new a******e (or "a hole" as he might insist on calling it). Him and anyone else we suspect of being a Cylon. Death to Tiny Tim!

Christophe l'Anglais ,

When they’re good, they’re really good.

RHLSTP is a weekly staple podcast listening for me. I enjoy Richard’s style of interviewing and the guests he has on.
The best interviews in my opinion are with those who aren’t comedians or actors, but with intellectuals where Richard gets his teeth into the subject without losing any humour.
If you listen to any two RHLSTP’s, listen to Dr Alice Roberts, and with Professor Francesca Stavrakopoulou. They’re brilliantly funny and you learn something too. (Who knew God had a wife?!)

RHLSTP!!

My friend suggested this podcast to me, and at first I was a bit phased by how many episodes there were.
Richard is hilarious and every show has been brilliant.
I am now listening to every single episode from the very beginning.
Very funny and very interesting podcasts which I highly recommend!

That Michael Palin episode...

...is absolutely wonderful! I can’t remember an interview in which Sir Michael was quite as relaxed and talkative. Richard Herring has really outdone himself there. He made a lot of hype around that interview and I have to say, it is even better than my highest expectations.
