How Kalachakra Fits with the Modern World

In this session, Rinpoche takes a modern approach to understand our relationship with the Guru. What type of relationship do we need to have with the Guru in Vajrayana to benefit the most from the teachings? In order to understand this, he looks at what qualities we need in our samsaric relationships for them to flourish. From there he begins to explore the guru-disciple relationship. In part two of this series, Khentrul Rinpoche encourages us to reflect on life rather than simply following others and samsaric values. By then applying and stabilising knowledge of the Dharma to go beyond custom and culture, we develop greater awareness. When this awareness is accompanied by mindfulness and vigilance, we can bring balance to our negativities, transforming them into beneficial qualities, eliminating our weaknesses and building our strengths. In this series of six teachings, Khentrul Rinpoche demonstrates how the Buddha Dharma, taught over 2,500 years ago, it is still completely relevant to our modern times. In this first session, while remaining true to the traditional content of Tibetan Buddhism, Rinpoche discusses how we can better understand the Four Convictions of Renunciation by expanding our common sense. By increasing our knowledge and awareness of the Dharma, we can learn to improve our view and to challenge our ideas of what it means to live a more meaningful life in this modern world.
