S3, Episode 9: " Decoding Doing… Meet the Authors….’ By Natasha Hickling, Madeline O’Reilly and Jonathan Hassall The Indigo Diaries

Welcome to "The Indigo Diaries." Join host Natasha Hickling in the third and long-lasting series: "The World Through an Our Eyes.."

This week Natasha is back with an ‘Open Mind Sessions’ where she will be joined by guest speakers and authors Madeline and Jonathan who recently wrote a book about procrastination for individuals with ADHD.

Madeline has spent the past decade working in a multidisciplinary practice in Sydney called Mindcare Centre. Here is where her interest in ADHD was sparked and she enjoys working in collaboration with other medical professionals, especially Psychiatrists. Prior to this she spent 3 years working in East London for a CBT service that specialised in treating Trauma in adults. Before moving to the UK, Madeline worked for Vision Australia. This allowed her to develop skills with children, adolescents and adults, in the assessment and treatment of behavioural problems and mental health difficulties in the vision impaired population.

Jonathan is an ADHD & Executive Function Coach and director of Connect ADHD Coaching, providing services internationally from Brisbane, Australia. His background includes psychiatric services and as Scientific Advisor for ADHD in the pharmaceutical industry. Jonathan trained as a an ADHD coach through the US and offers individual and group programs for people with ADHD. Jonathan is a regular speaker at national ADHD meetings in Australian and US. He is a board member of ADDA and a published author.

Recently, they co-authored a book called ‘Decoding Doing’ . This book has been a long time in the making and presents a model aimed at helping people procrastinate less and achieve more despite having ADHD.

In this episode, they both discuss what came to write the book, the main models from it, and ways to manage and find solutions for one of the biggest ADHD challenges Procrastination. In the second half, we touch upon how the book has been transformed into a group and conference at ADDA.
