Tituba, Trials and Witchy History with Rowan & Eleanor- Ep. 4

Tituba, Trials and Witchy History with Rowan & Eleanor- Ep. 4

This week is a very special history episode of Season of the Witch as we will be joined by our very first guest, Eleanor Knowles of @WitchyHistory on Instagram, as we lift the coffin on some witch trial history, looking at some of its shadiest characters… Spoiler alert, most of them are depraved men in political or religious power. No points for guessing that one. Tune in also to hear about the witch bitch that started it all, allegedly, yes, we’re talking Tituba and I have some tea hotter than a Ryan Murphy sex scene.
So, grab your cup and let’s read the leaves to filth.

Witch Stereotypes and Demdike of Pendle - Ep.3

Witch Stereotypes and Demdike of Pendle - Ep.3

Take a knee deep dive into the cesspit of witchy stereotypes and misconceptions with me - Rowan  - in our third episode of Season of the Witch, with Rowan Oaken.
In this episode, we will be thumbing through the history pages as we explore our very first Witch of the Week, Elizabeth Demdike of Pendle, to find out exactly how badly someone like myself can butcher a Lancashire accent in my retelling of her story. Come investigate the etymology of the word witch with me, as we use that to guide us through the many misconceptions and problematic stereotypes of witches and pagans. Ever wanted to know where the pointed hat came from? Yeah you do! Broomsticks? I have that covered, all in this weeks episode of Season of the Witch, with Rowan Oaken.
Stick around at the end of the episode to join in with this week's bonus content - a sunflower seed spell for S.A.D witches. **

The pumpkin spiced latte is back in the UK and the word Basic Witch is circling social media once more.

Join me, Rowan Oaken, in our second episode as we take a nosedive into Basic Witchery, looking at its use in social media and consumer culture. Explore some Autumnal Equinox crafts and learn about the benefits of a Hawthorne Haw infusion*** and stick around at the end of the episode for a delicious recipe of magickal apple cider. A Spell for Balance and a Spell of Under-representation in the Witch Community - Ep. 1

A Spell for Balance and a Spell of Under-representation in the Witch Community - Ep. 1

Join me, Rowan Oaken, your new gay best friend, witch-dad and host of the first ever ‘Season of the Witch’ podcast.

This week, we will be throwing open Pandora’s Box as we flip the lid on representation in the witch community and in the spirit of the autumnal/spring equinoxes, we will be getting into the themes of balance. I will be sharing my favourite spell for balance (link below) and the story of how it absolutely changed my life.

In the spirit of first meetings, I will let you in on the story of how I first began exploring the craft and unpick a bit of witchy family background along with some strange phallic rituals from the village I grew up in. Make sure you are part of the discussion too; join me in my Instagram coven run with my sister @samhainsisterhood . Looking forward to hearing your stories and seeing what suggestions you have for future content.

Stay tuned after the show (35:53) for full details of the Llewellyn Balance spell.

Love Rowan, listening to this feels like a cosy, funny chat with a friend which is so needed at the moment

An insightfully hilarious witchy podcast.

Rowan’s podcast keeps getting better each week. He has a really good way of making you feel at home and as if you are chatting with one of your best friends. I’ve only started out in the craft and listen to a lot of basic 101 type podcasts. This is a nice middle ground for those who have maybe started reading up and want to either fill in some gaps of knowledge but what Rowan does best is question things and why they are the way they are like stereotypes in the witch community.
He often has a bonus spell at the end which is great and so far they have tied in nicely with the seasons. Would 100% recommend this podcast.
