SPecial Announcement! We're taking a bit of a break

SPecial Announcement! We're taking a bit of a break

    Hi everyone!
We're putting this out on the feed for any of you that might miss it on social media.

So, we’ve been going on for over 2 years, 61 mainline episodes and a bunch of bonus episodes too, and we have loved every minute of it. We’ve had some great fun arguing and coming up with some crazy pitches from Oompa loompas to Dominic Toretto punching asteroids heading to earth.

After the new year we planned to do a soft reboot of the show to focus on the competition element and to shorten our review section and give our patrons something special to listen to. We're very pleased with the shape of things, but it's not all been plain sailing over here.

A peak behind the curtain here pitch pals. We do this podcast for fun now of course we have a patreon and we are hugely grateful to anyone who subscribes, but we all have boring day jobs and other commitments that we have to balance as well.

Something we have been overlooking is our own mental health. We have been pushing on sometimes ignoring the warning signs in our own bodies and minds. We can sometimes overlook men's mental health, and we four definitely aren't immune to that. But it has got to a point in which we need to listen.

So after listening, we have made the call to put Sequel Pitch on hold, just for a couple of months.

We love our show, and we love what we do, so we are going to rest, recharge, and come back better than ever before! It also gives us this precious time to spend with family, but also work on the podcast like we had wanted to!

We love you and all your support you give the podcast. As always, if you know someone you think would have fun with the show we've got over 60 episodes for everyone to listen to! Also, we're still going to put out any SPoilercast we can get off the ground in the meantime, AND we will be back with a very special episode on April 18th with the return of Videogame director Mike Bithell (who is currently hard at work on Tron Identity for Disney, oooooooo), pitching our sequels to the 1993 Mario Brothers movie!

So for now it’s goodbye, but we'll be back on April 18th

True Lies (1994) - Scores and Sequel Pitches!

The meeting of minds is back for 2023 with some changes! We've decided to cut out the full review section just for our patrons on Patreon, so going forward we'll have the 60 second synopsis, followed by our final thoughts and scores on the movie before we launch straight into the pitches, since that's kind of the whole point of the show! If you find yourself missing our movie chat, you can always come and hear some more on the Patreon :)
Ross is hosting, while the gang review and pitch sequels for the 1994 espionage action comedy True Lies, directed by James Cameron and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Arnold, Tia Carrera and the late, great Bill Paxton.
Expect the usual Arnie impressions, arguing, car chases and just general nonsense.

    Sequel Pitch's Review of 2022!

Happy New Year! Before we all get fully cracking on with 2023, it's time to look back on 2022! We thought we'd have a nice long sit down and chat our favourite movies of 2022, our favourite pitches, and do some silly quizzing and games to go along with it too!
Expect 2 hours and 40 minutes of us having a very unstructured and silly time - basically, only listen to this episode if you're invested in us as people, because we're bringing nothing to the table here but ourselves

Elf (2003) - Review and Sequel Pitches!

The meeting of minds is back! This week, Andy is hosting our final episode of the year as Ross and Drew review and pitch sequels for the beloved 2003 family Christmas comedy Elf, directed by Jon Favreau and starring Will Ferrell, James Caan, Zooey Deschanel, Mary Steenburgen, Edward Asner and Bob Newhart.
Expect a bit of bemusement about all the hype that this movie gets, lots of gushing about Will Ferrell's comedy chops and Zoe Deschanel's singing voice, and two remarkably similar, but also totally different, sequel pitches

Something Different, Something Sort of Brilliant

As the title of my review states, in a world of many, many film podcasts, Sequel Pitch is something different and sort of brilliant that stands out from the crowd. Drew Toynbee and co. pick a film that hasn’t had a sequel, or which has a sequel with an as-yet-unannounced storyline/setting, review the original work and then take it in turns to pitch a sequel in a gamified challenge format. Funny, friendly, and sometimes actually genuinely inspired, the pitches the guys come up with are never anything less than good for thought. The guys’ love for film is evident, their friendship makes listening a treat, and the format is something fresh in a crowded market. Top keck!
