Rotterdam | Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. Join us for the first episode of OtherNetwork Conversations, where we visit Shimmer in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Shimmer is an exhibition space run with a studio-like mentality by artist Jason Hendrik Hansma and curator Eloise Sweetman, who invite Ruth Buchanan, director of Artspace Aotearoa in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland as their guest. Together we discuss the different approaches to founding a new art space versus inheriting one with a longstanding history, and the responsibilities a curator has to both artists and audiences.
