One thing matters; taking the time to listen to Jesus. Every week people from across the City of London meet to hear God speak through the Bible. This podcast is a feed of our midweek talks, most will include a Q&A on the Bible passage. We are a church based in the heart of the City of London. The suffering of Jesus and innocent suffering
Christians should expect to be on the receiving end of a certain amount of ridicule and reviling. But are we getting it for the right reasons and how should we respond?
For all: God’s eyes for the righteous and peaceful
How do we look as Christians in the world? Whatever our situation, what matters is a tender heart and godly response to any opposition to our faith. How we live will either help or hinder our Christian witness.
Spiritual sacrifices at work and at home
The Bible’s teaching on workplace behaviour and gender roles in marriage is challenging. Peter sees our workplace and our homes as places of worship. Not only does this confront our culture, but it also challenges our conduct. It is vital that Christians take this seriously, as a saved and transformed life will have a radical impact on those who witness it.
At work: Christ's example of suffering injustice
Every believer of Jesus is an ambassador to speak and live for Christ. But how do we do that? In this passage, Peter instructs us to behave with regard to the authorities of the state and the workplace. We are to live such good lives that those around us find themselves compelled to listen to what we say.
God’s people and his nation of praise
We are used to singing praises to those we’re impressed with. But our objects of praise are not always worthy of it. The Christian has been chosen by God to declare his praise—something really worth shouting about.
God’s stones in his house of service
Purpose and security are two things we value highly. We want what we do to be worthwhile and we want it to last. In Peter’s letter, he assures his readers they are part of the most significant project in history and nothing will sweep them or their work aside.
