A global spirituality on offer to all

A global spirituality on offer to all

We are all used to the idea that if we tamper with something we may easily wreck it. Consider a contract that has been worked over and perfected or a great work of art. If an effective antidote to the pandemic were to be discovered it would be a brave medic who sought to tamper with it prior to vaccinating the patient. The spiritual benefits of what Jesus offers are similar. Jesus offers free forgiveness, a glorious relationship with God today and the assured certainty of heaven. But his offer comes with a warning label—no modification!

Security is a precious commodity. We have experienced political insecurity. Job security and financial security are at a premium. In the current crisis, health is added to the mix. Insecurity makes a person hesitant, unsettled, cautious—it can be exhausting. The Christian faith offers security at the deepest level possible. Because of who he is and what he has achieved, the Lord Jesus provides us with the most solid of foundations.

A profitable spirituality of enduring value (with Q&A)

What does genuine Christian spirituality look like? In a world where spirituality is a big issue, it is a relief to have a definition of what is authentic. Knowing God is at the heart of it, pleasing God is key to it and belonging to God is part of it. Those who have turned to follow the Lord Jesus can be confident that all of these things are true for them. It is immensely liberating and reassuring.

An authentic spirituality with a AAA rating (with Q&A)

Spirituality is a hot topic during this Covid lockdown. This makes Paul’s letter to the Colossians acutely relevant to us. The church in Colossae has been described as the least-significant church Paul has written to. Started up by Epaphras, the church had an issue with individuals offering ‘super-charged spirituality’. In response, Paul lays out to the Colossians what authentic Christian spirituality looks like. It’s thrilling and liberating!

    Proclaiming his death!

    Proclaiming his death!

Jesus rose from the grave—that is the claim of the original eye witnesses to Jesus' resurrection. This glorious truth lies right at the heart of the Christian faith. But what does his resurrection mean, and how should we respond? The meaning is provided by Jesus himself, 'all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me', he says. The implications of this universal divine authority are to be declared by his disciples to the whole world.
