Something you get handed freely or without any work or sweat-equity behind it, you will not value you it as much. My friend’s dad bought his son a brand-new pair of Jordan’s for school. On the first day the little boy came back home those pair of sneakers looked like they were worn for 8 months or more, just ridiculous. This teenager needed to learn a lesson, so his father decided that if my son wants something like some shoes, he’s going to have to work and buy his own. That young man now appreciates the shoes he wears and any other thing he buys because he had to put some sweat-equity in it. Understand this principle because some people think they’re entitled and things should be given to them. No, no, no it doesn’t work like that. Sweat-equity teaches you ownership and responsibility. If it’s worth it, you’ll work for it and be thankful for it.
