    Backpacking with Strangers #51

    Backpacking with Strangers #51

I usually form relationships very quickly with strangers whenever I'm travelling and that's because I sometimes stay in hostels where I meet like minded travel enthusiasts.

In this episode, I share a previous episode about how I met my travel companions in Vietnam, buddied up with three other backpackers on completely different journeys and how we came together to travel to Halong Bay in Vietnam

    Travelling while Black #50

    Travelling while Black #50

This was a tragic week for black people. We witnessed acts of blatant racism from Amy Cooper who falsely accused Christian Cooper (no relation) of threatening her. Later that same day a video of a police officer also surfaced as the officer was seen pressing his knee on the neck of a George Floyd, a black man who was later reported dead as a result of the injuries from the police brutality.

It's an uncomfortable conversation but one we need to have more regularly, something my guests and I do by weighing in with our personal experiences of moments we've experienced racism abroad and at home.

    An Epic Race #48

    An Epic Race #48

Niko from Journal of Nomads joined me in this episode to share one of the most amazing travel stories ever told.
Shortly after moving out of his parent's home, Niko and a friend hitchhiked from Quebec Canada to Alaska and this is where the story gets interesting. Niko's friend chose to fly back via visiting some friends in Vancouver for a couple of days but Niko opted to race her back by hitchhiking across the country.

Such an addictive Podcast

TOAT Podcast is actually the first podcast I am consistently listening to. The host’s energy / vibe, the amazing guests and topics are always on point. There’s usually some crazy story in each episode and it also made me discover countries I wouldn’t have thought of visiting before. At first, I didn’t think I could listen to something for more than 10mn as I get bored easily but TOAT proved me wrong, I can listen to it for hours!

Definitely recommend giving it a try (and probably becoming addicted to it).

Travelling is an Art

Before I listened to the TOAT podcast, I didn’t realise how much of an art travelling is. Much like art the beauty is in the eye of the beholder and each unique episode demonstrates the host (Ibby) or his guests pieces of art that they created through their stories in travelling. It makes me appreciate that art truly comes in many forms including travelling. As Picasso said about art “Every child is an artist. The problem is to remain an artist when we grow up.” In this podcast it made me realise that every one of us as a child and instinctively children are adventurous. Through this podcast, Ibby and his guests truly show that your adventurous side does not have to leave you when you grow up. Thank you for showing me there is more to just having holidays. Travelling is my art and the world is my canvas.
