This is a podcast focusing on arcade games from our youth – especially if you were a kid in the late ’70s to the mid ’90s. We will be focusing on some of the slightly less popular games from the arcades, but ones we hope you’ll remember. If not, hopefully we’ll encourage you to check them out on arcade emulation software, or if like us, maybe track down the original arcade PCB hardware to play on your own arcade machine. We will review and play a chosen game each time and compete for a best score. We want our listeners to join in too. As well as the chosen game, we will also give hints and tips on maintaining, restoring and even building your own arcade machines. Collecting these machines and things that go with arcade videogames is our passion

Jammy Dodgers and Dodgy JAMMAs
I have been listening to podcasts for about eight years. I have about ten favourite podcasts that I listen to regularly, covering various nerdy subjects. However, the Ten Pence Arcade Podcast is the only one where I listen to the whole of every single episode, regardless of the subject, usually on the day it is released.
Playing along with the featured game adds to the whole experience. Everyone knows that the best video games ever made were arcade games from the 1970s and 80s. Those of us with no access to arcade cabinets, can play along on MAME or RetroPie, and quickly realise that SNES gamepads are nowhere near as good as we remember them. A decent USB arcade stick is advisable.
Vic’s grumpiness and Shaun’s beardy-fool-ness complement each other nicely, making sure there is not too much of either. The perfect recipe for a great partnership. My wife and I have adopted this. Her beard is coming along nicely.
I do not own an arcade cab and probably never will. Despite this I still enjoy listening to Vic’s technical waffle about rotating his bezel, after carefully discharging his tube. From voltages, to CRTs, to joysticks, Vic’s casual approach gave me the confidence to release some of the tension from my stiff Monster. He really knows his stuff! Henceforth, whenever I slice a cake, I measure twice, cut once.
Everyone now realises that the perfect accompaniment for classic arcade gaming is eating biscuits. The Biscuit Review helps us all to decide what to spend our monthly £50 Aldi biscuit budget on. I am not aware of any other podcast that offers such advice.
So, whether you love Jammy Dodgers, or suffer from dodgy JAMMAs, this is probably the best podcast you could listen to…
Best retro gaming podcast out there.
This is hands down the finest retro gaming podcast there is. Two very knowledgeable and funny hosts (Richard & Judy) discuss a variety of subjects, then dive deeply into a classic arcade game. Their passion for the subject shines through to make this an essential listen.
Self indulgent
Listened to latest episode as I do like the Punisher arcade game, not worth it to be honest, an hour and 20 minutes of self indulgent chat trying desperately to be funny (constant “quips” that fail to hit the mark - Don particularly cringey) and then very short chat about the game. I won’t be back.
