Testify | Part 3 - What Will Happen To Me?

Big Idea: Heaven isn’t for good people, it’s for people who believe the good news of Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died. We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet him ahead of those who have died. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. So encourage each other with these words.

2 Peter 3:9-13
The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment. Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live… but we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a world filled with God’s righteousness.

Two Reasons To Be Encouraged About Heaven
1. You don't have to guess what happens after death.
2. You don't have to grieve about death.

Discussion Questions
1. Growing up, what were your beliefs about heaven and hell?
2. If someone asked you, “What is the rapture?” How would you answer?
3. How can your group be praying for you to share your testimony?
