A podcast for actors, by actors; The 98% explores what life is *really* like for the majority of actors and performers who, rather than trying to find an outfit for the Oscar’s, are trying to find an outfit that makes them look as close to an 1850’s aristocrat as possible for an audition in 24 hours.
In a world where we only really hear from successful and well known actors it can often feel like you're the only one working a day job and changing in a fast food restaurant public toilet for an audition on your lunch break - that is not the case! We share anecdotes, interviews, advice and laugh, lament and talk openly and honestly about the real #actorslife

*Disclaimer* - Our podcast does not include disturbing content (unless you count toe curlingly embarrassing stories as disturbing) but it does have some swearing which is why episodes are marked as explicit!

S3E14 - "You can make yourself a better CEO"

During lockdown Alexa and Katie hosted a live webinar with performance psychologist Dr Steve Bull (aka Alexa's Dad!) who you may remember from the resilience episode in Series 1. As the current situation is badly affecting performers and creatives, it is especially important to work on mental wellbeing and Alexa and Katie felt it was important to share this webinar with all listeners of The 98%. In this episode you'll hear Steve talk about "The 3 C's" which include, controlling the controllables, outcome vs process focus, commitment, your personal brand, confidence, the importance of reviewing successes, being your own CEO and “Putting the big rocks in first”.

Part 2 of this webinar which includes attendees' questions that Steve answers can be found on our patreon here:
    https://www.patreon.com/the98percentpod
Where you can hear advice on self referenced appraisal, how to handle the industry without the safety blanket of college, how to deal with being being ghosted after auditions/reaching out, how you can successfully leverage your strengths and mentally handling paythebills jobs that don’t fulfil you.
We wanted to feature this on patreon as a special thanks to our patreon supporters who help ease the financial weight of paying to keep The 98% up and available for everyone to listen to for free. You can sign up for monthly donations or give a one off donation and still have access to the extra content that's up there! *Every little helps* and goes directly back into keeping this podcast going.

Perfect ‘Resting’ Job Listening

I’m currently working an indefinite ‘resting’ job as a delivery driver after losing acting work due to Covid. Challenging as it may be, it has left me in a position to crack through many a podcast on the road. After an inordinate amount of true crime, I recalled hearing about the 98% and decided to give it a go. Long story short - it’s F***ing Great!

Thank you both for reminding me that so many of us are in the same boat - that we all feel the same insecurities and suffer the same setbacks. As negative as those aspects of our industry are it’s so uplifting and so joyful to know that so so many of us are there for one another to help pull each other through the sh**. I hope I’ll get to work with you both down the line at some point but for now there’s too many people that need their 55inch TV’s delivered. Much love.

Must listen! …with utter pleasure

Really beautiful refreshing honest conversations. If you’re in the business, this is a must listen and fun! If you’re not, it’s gorgeously entertaining and insightful

Extremely useful and fun at the same time!

These two girls have kept me company 24/7 in the last weeks. I wish I was friends with them! I’ve never enjoyed a podcast so much, and the incredible thing is that I’m learning a lot about the industry - wish they explained these things in drama schools. It’s a must for all creatives, especially actors. I kinda wish this podcast could go on forever! ❤️ Thank you for your honesty and spontaneity girls. What you’re doing is so precious!
