The Shining and the Virus of Fear and Isolation ...

The Shining is more than a horror tale about a man driven to violence by a haunted hotel. The Shining is also a story about how isolation, addiction, guilt and imagination can impair the human psyche. In this podcast we discuss all things King and Kubrick as we unravel the visual symbolism and hidden meanings within the book and film that have left indelible marks on our culture-- including  themes and buried narratives that continue to fascinate us with their uncanny ability to still be relevant after all this time.

Thin Places, Dead Muses and Conversations with Ghosts

Thin places are places where we find ourselves closer to our muses--where the space between heaven and earth has narrowed and we find ourselves connected across space and time to our past and future selves. In this podcast, we discover how to navigate thin places, resurrect dead muses and converse with the ghosts who seek to both haunt and delight us.

Art History in Detail: A conversation about Bob Ross. His Life, Art, Teaching and Legacy.

Welcome to The Artist's Mindset. Hosted by Courtney Abruzzo and Steffan Piper ...

Bob Ross has nothing to do with low cost garment chain stores across the American Retail Landscape, but he did dress for less. Our conversation centers on understanding the world and legacy of Bob Ross and what he left behind for all of us.

Bob Ross was the ever-present, always televised art teacher brought to the general public by PBS in the 80s and 90s. His large following was not only heroic during his lifetime, but awe-inspiring and now. almost 25 years after his death, he's facing a resurgence in the modern framework thanks to Netflix and Youtube. School children across the globe have flocked to his shows as have curious adults.

Art History in Detail: A conversation about Joseph Roulin, The Postmaster.

Art History in Detail: A conversation about Joseph Roulin, The Postmaster.

Welcome to The Artist's Mindset, hosted by Courtney Abruzzo & Steffan Piper. Broadcasting from the low desert of greater Palm Springs and busy cityscape of Burbank, California. In this conversation, we explore the relationship between Vincent and Joseph as neighbors and how they met. We discuss the portraits of the Roulin family and the impact they had on Vincent. While the world has had a very unswerving and focused interest on Vincent van Gogh's mental health and how it pertained to his life, we have a very candid discussion about some of the best years of his life according to his letters and his paintings. We talk about the educational aspect of teaching children how to appreciate art, how to inspire and interest them in Art History and engage in the practice of painting both in the classroom and at home. Lastly, we take a close look at the Film 'Loving Vincent' from the perspective of art history, accuracy and biograhy. Join us for our discussion on the Roulin's, on The Artist's Mindset.
