    However, that’s not why we had Evelyn on the podcast… We had her on to share her fitness journey and transformation story, which began as just a Mom who jumped into a CrossFit class to simply make her husband happy…

    But it quickly escalated into her becoming obsessed with the physical development and transformation process, which led to competing in CrossFit and opening her own training facility called The Buffalo. However, her CrossFit days ended when she suffered a serious injury that took her out of the gym… but like most triumphant success stories, every downfall is just another step towards greatness! In Evelyn’s case, this led to her current passion and journey of bodybuilding.

    We dive into her story to learn how she handled all the above while being a mother and wife, continued growing her fitness business, competed in figure competitions, dealt with body image issues, shifted her mindset around strict dieting, and what her current prep for Junior Olympia looks like, as we speak!

    I’ve been lifting for 9 years, 3 years of powerlifting but the past year I’ve taken a break from powerlifting and have been doing my own training. 4-5 days a week of lifting, boxing 1-2 days, and running 1 day. I’ve noticed that my left arm/left side of my upper body seems to be more defined. Specifically, my left shoulder is bigger and rounder. Would there be a reason for that? And how can I get my right arm/shoulder to catch up??

    When doing a refeed or diet break, are you going back up to maintenance calories or under since you might have a new maintenance? Or would you suggest a calorie range such as adding in 200 calories on refeed days?

    What is the harm or side effects from eating a higher fat diet? I am eating at maintenance and I’ve noticed I tend to crave higher-fat foods. I am 5’ 5” and weigh 158. My maintenance calories are 2500. Average macros for the last week are 155P/225C/95F. Should I change my distribution of fats + carbs? My goal is to build muscle and I’m staying at maintenance for the rest of the year

    This episode’s special guest is a legend in the fitness industry, the one and only Jim Stoppani!

    Dr. Jim Stoppani is a leading authority on exercise science, sport nutrition, and supplementation. He received his doctorate in exercise physiology with a minor in biochemistry from the University of Connecticut. After graduation, he served as a postdoctoral research fellow at Yale University School of Medicine, where he investigated the effects of exercise and diet on gene regulation in muscle tissue. For his research he was awarded the 2002 Gatorade Beginning Investigator in Exercise Science Award by the American Physiological Society. From 2002 to 2013 Stoppani was the senior science editor for Muscle & Fitness, Muscle & Fitness Hers, and Flex magazines. He went on to be a massive piece of bodybuilding.com’s success in the early years of online fitness content. Finally, he is the owner of JYM Supplement Science – his personal company.

    Now, on top of all the educational accolades and credentials – Dr. Jim Stoppani has written thousands of articles on exercise, nutrition, and health for some of the largest production companies in the fitness industry. He is the coauthor of the best sellers LL Cool J's Platinum 360 Diet and Lifestyle, Stronger Arms & Upper Body, and PrayFit. He has even been the personal nutrition and health consultant for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, LL Cool J, Dr. Dre, Mario Lopez, and Chris Pine.
