A work in progress

As an avid listener to the British Museum Membercast podcast, I was pleased to see a second podcast from the British Museum.

Where the Membercast is polished and professionally presented, this is more of a work in progress. The episodes are presented by the curators, who clearly have a great love and interest in the museum and its objects. The content is very interesting and diverse - cats, Alfred Htchcock, coffin goo. However, you get the feeling they are a little self-conscious talking into the microphone, and there a few "ohs" and "ahs" where a description of what they are looking at would help the listener. That will probably improve as they do more episodes (in the same way that the audio quality has improved recently).

I don't know how much time they are able to dedicate to each episode, but there was an unanswered question in the last episode (on whether the Tutankamum exhibits were shown first in London or Paris) that could have been addressed by a quick look at Wikipedia.

Overall, there's great content and enthusiasm.

Tip top curiosities

A wonderful peek behind the curtain of the world's oldest and greatest public museum. It's a place full of weird tales, eccentrics and a history all of its own well worth sharing - and this is the place for them to be told.
