The Big Lessons from 2023.
We’re approaching the end of year ...
... and I’m not sure about you, but there’s a few BIG things that stand out as I reflect on the big lessons that I’ll take from what has been a very interesting year in the would of hearing care, and as a business owner.
It has been challenging, there's no doubt about it. We've had to combat some very interesting situations including:
• The many staffing and recruitment headaches we’ve all experienced (including a bold and somewhat scary story)
• The power of AI for building efficiencies in clinics (including how GPT’s can be trained/used)
• And how the industries target market is changing (as we go through a ‘Changing of the Guards’ – one of the biggest transitions we’ve seen as an industry in decades.
I wasn't a big fan of school, but its time to dive into the BIG Lessons of 2023.

Hiring Audiologists - The Light At The End Of The Tunnel.
One of the biggest pain points for 2023 in the world of audiology has been hiring – but why?
More people than ever reaching the age of 65 and looking to retire. On average only 500 new audiologists are being trained/educated each year. Just over 13,000 audiologists existing in North America today Supply and Demand – Are there enough?
Hiring top quality audiologists is essential to achieving great success in your clinic not to mention a fantastic rapport with your patients, so finding the right person to fit the job – for the right money, has been somewhat of a challenge this year.
But fear not, with crystal ball in hand, let me tell you why I can see a light at the end of the tunnel, and what my predictions are for the next few years.

The Customer Avatar Myth
Should you have a customer avatar for your hearing care clinic?
It’s what’s taught in marketing foundational courses.
Any marketer will tell you to be incredibly clear about your avatar.
Some marketing companies do this as their first exercise with you.
However, in hearing care, Oli thinks this is mostly BS.
In this episode, Oli Luke shares why creating a customer avatar is not the right approach for a private practice hearing care clinic, and he details the way that you should develop your target audience by selecting one of four groups of individuals. -
There's So Much BS in this episode. (BS - Brad Stewart)
Do you know who Brad Stewart is?
Well, if you spend your time on LinkedIn – you’ll undoubtedly have seen him knocking around.
From selling his clinic to now supporting other clinics to improve their pricing/presentation process – he shares a lot of thoughts, ideas and suggestions on how private practice can drive more of the right outcomes.
I was keen to interview him for the Business of Hearing Podcast to hear his thoughts and understand exactly how more clinics can improve their sales performance. -
If Not Now... Then When?
