A big warm welcome to the Business Proposal, the podcast for wedding creatives by wedding creatives.

Working in the wedding industry is amazing and so rewarding, but it’s also very peculiar. A little like Taken - but also not like in Taken in the slightest, as there are no kidnappings, murders or tears of anything other than joy - it requires you to have a very specific set of skills unlike any other related creative industry. Because of that, we thought there was a gaping podcast-shaped hole in the business support that was on offer for the wider industry in general; and so, the Business Proposal was born. As well as this, we also wanted to combat the sometimes loneliness of self-employment, whilst providing something of real, tangible use. The episodes are informal, friendly and approachable; like chatting to your self-employed pals in a café, trying to tackle all the big topics with a big cuppa tea.

We’re swapping the top table for the kitchen table to chat all things wedding industry related - so pull up a pew.

Purchasing with purpose with Luminary Bakery

Remember how Rachel was when we we went to Pinterest? This is Ellie's version of that, as we interviewed the amazing Rachael and Emma from Luminary Bakery. Luminary Bakery are a social enterprise who help disadvantaged women by offering them a safe and professional environment to be supported, championed, and to provide them with skills training and paid employment via their bakery (and, as an aside, they make the most incredibly delicious cinnamon buns IN THE WORLD.) We chatted all about the Luminary story, and about how small businesses can do their bit in their own processes.

Goodbye 2019, Hello 2020 - Creating a Life You Love, with Project Love

We can’t imagine a better end to the year than speaking to Selina and Vicki of Project Love about the process they’ve created for doing an end of year review. We learn their approach to saying goodbye to 2019 and hello to 2020 in an intentional way (spoiler alert, they have an EXCELLENT journal to help you do this too), and we also chatted about reflecting, goal setting and dreaming big. We loved this one, and we hope it helps you set yourself up for the new year with purpose and positivity.

A big chat about looking after our little heads

A big chat about looking after our little heads

Brené Brown will be proud of this week as we got a bit vulnerable! With the end of year approaching - & with it, an air of mild panic - we chatted openly and honestly about our personal experiences with mental health while running businesses. We covered things that we do to look after ourselves, things we hope to do more of in 2020 and what we’ve learned as two anxious gals making it work. **This episode is purely based on our experiences and is not a substitute for finding and getting professional help.

Warm & mega valuable

Great insight into a variety of people’s wedding businesses - love that there’s a combo of learning and seeing into the day-to-day of their businesses. Ellie & Rachel make lovely hosts that you warm to instantly. It’s like having a coffee with friends. Which in an industry where we are often working alone most of the time is refreshing.

An invaluable resource!

Such an invaluable resource plus it’s super fun too! I always come away with so many ideas but unlike other business podcasts you don’t feel bogged down either. Love listening to these gals!

Business support we all need ....

For the support and advice these girls and their expert panelists are so relatable. Personally I use the topics to keep me, and the business on track, and a reminder of what I should be doing!
The Business Proposal feels like an indulgent distraction, but actually is an easily absorbed business tool.
Keep doing what you're doing, I recommend your valuable podcast to everyone ....
