    It’s Christmas time and volunteer Nora and her Neighbour meet once again at a rather unusual place where they not only discuss cheesy Christmas films but also the common ground of A Castle for Christmas, Madonna’s music video Like a Prayer and a classic called Mega Python vs. Gatoroid. Merry Christmas…and keep your eyes and ears open for a potential upcoming flute album and a Christmas movie masterpiece written by a random Hallmark movie writer…with the help of our two protagonists. Dammit I fell asleep during a Hallmark movie so now I'll never know if the cute couple who misunderstood each other at first fell in love.     25: First Watch: Raw & Ravenous

    The second of a series in which volunteers Maria and Charlotte discuss two films to which they have introduced each other. Mainly focusing on horror and thriller films, with plenty of trivia thrown in for good measure. In this episode, Maria and Charlotte discuss the film Raw (introduced by Charlotte) by the French director ‎Julia Ducournau and Ravenous (introduced by Maria) by the British director Antonia Bird. The episode's theme is Cannibalism.

    It’s been a while since the last “My Neighbour Recommends” episode. Rumors say it was due to volunteer Nora not feeling her usual self after visiting her Neighbour in that rather spooky castle for the Halloween Podcast. Anyway, this episode marks a special occasion: having visited her Neighbour only in special places before, Nora is meeting him in an even more spectacular place this time: his very own flat! In this episode they are going to discuss time travel films Timecrimes, 2007, by Nacho Vigalondo and Arrival, 2016, by Denis Villeneuve. This episode promises to be a cosy one…or doesn’t it?

    My Neighbour Recommends - Halloween

    He loves movies...and board games. He likes cooking Gumbo for his friends and spending Sundays in his bathrobe. But most importantly: He is my neighbour. And he recommends films. In this Halloween episode, volunteer Nora visits her Neighbour in a remote castle, where he is currently working as a mobile hair and nail stylist to a “person” called The Count. Prepare for a spooky episode as they are talking about dark castle films such as Stuart Gordon’s Castle Freak and Peter Medak’s The Changeling.     21. BHM Special CANDYMAN past and present

    "Tracey, Charlotte and Neal do a deep dive into the themes and issues of the two Candyman films, the first from 1992 and the second from 2021. Please note that this episode contains spoilers. Candyman — written and directed by Bernard Rose, adapted from Clive Barker’s short story “The Forbidden” is a bloody horror story transplanted from it's original setting in Liverpool, to the projects of Chicago. The relocation of the film allowed for the narrative to take on a much more depth, as the horrors of American history were brought to the fore. The more recent version, directed by Nia DaCosta show how although things may look very different now the original location of Cabrini-Green has been gentrified, the scars and trauma of the original narrative still remain..."

    My Neighbour Recommends (Jungle)

    He loves movies...and board games. He likes cooking Gumbo for his friends and spending Sundays in his bathrobe. But most importantly: He is my neighbour. And he recommends films. It’s not just “silly season”, but also our 20th Podcast! That’s why it turned out to be a bit longer than usual…or is the real reason behind the longer episode, volunteer Nora’s tough journey through the jungle in order to visit her Neighbour who is currently studying frogs there? Or was it the fact that The Neighbour and she talked about some more serious stuff like: can you separate the art from the artist-and therefore went deep? We don’t know, but we know for sure you are going to have one special ear-worm for the rest of the summer. “I swear before God....and four more white people!
