Contemplative Neuroscience In The Corporate World With Lars Sandved Smith

I recently had a fascinating conversation with computational neuroscientist, Lars Sandved Smith. We've both had amazing experiences of working in the management consulting world with truly inspiring individuals and have also learned so much along the way. In contrast, we also talked about how constant interaction with the highly anxious and fibrilating nervous systems of colleagues led us both to burnout, and subsequently, the hospital. This, I realise, is becoming increasingly common. Through these conversations, I hope to bring more awareness to our colleagues who have been struggling to maintain a sense of groundedness during these turbulent times. We touched on various fascinating topics: - The link between contemplative practices (meditation, yoga, etc.) and neuroscience - Questioning the maps and models we currently hold as beliefs and truths. Stepping back from our narrow world view and embracing the bigger picture. - Being confident in the fact that we don't know what we don't know - Contemplative practices leading to a sense of purpose. A Grounded nervous system, positive life experiences, and social interactions seem to arise naturally as a result of these practices. - Altruism as being fundamental to systems theory and the evolution of the workplace - The sense of urgency with which we should be approaching global cooperation and collaboration I sense that you will find this conversation highly insightful. You can find Lars' work with organisations at neuronsofpotential.com and connect with him on Linkedin (Lars Sandved Smith). If you have any questions or feedback, feel free to get in touch with me at raiza@raizasali.com. Much love, Raiza
