A podcast covering the celebrated and derided sequels in Cinema.
Episode 10 - I Can't Believe It's Not Conan
On this weeks episode I am joined by fellow podcaster, journalist and Twitter pal Mr. Guy Davis. The most wacky time zone difference yet but we both were fuelled by coffee and a love for all things cinema. We did talk about Deathstalker II a little bit too. Guy co hosts a Simpsons related podcast called Four Finger Discount which can be found on all major streaming platforms and if you want to interact his Twitter is https://twitter.com/RobertGuyDavis/As mentioned in the show any donations to my Movember page would be greatly appreciated. https://movember.com/m/jameslawrence83Film - Deathstalker IIIntro Music - Iron Sequel ThemeOutro Music - Wytch Hazel - Dark Ages
Episode 9 - Don't Shoot! Zaldivar is Coming
Different feel to this weeks episode as I am joined by Spaghetti Western expert Eric Zaldivar. Eric has worked on the ill fated Django Lives! sequel and was a producer on a favourite of the podcast, Eurocrime! documentary. Eric's YouTube channel is a treasure trove of Spaghetti deep dives and expertise and can be found here:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCc133xQnudXTJlYqhgiTC0gWe had a great chat talking about the DCU (Django Cinematic Universe. Sorry) and our love for genre cinema. Film - Spaghetti WesternsIntro Music - Iron Sequel ThemeOutro Music - David Allan Coe - Revenge
Episode 8 - Reggie and the Skullet Effect
On this weeks episode I am joined by Dom O'Brien of That Sequel Guy fame. His website shares a love for all things sequels and I was more than impressed with how many choice cuts he covers. Also on his website there are interviews with Steve Wang and Matthias Hues to name a few. Head to thatsequelguy.wordpress.com and read some brilliant reviewsFilm - Phantasm IIIntro Music - Iron Sequel ThemeOutro Music - Danzig - Not of this World
Episode 7 - The Greatest Sequel Ever Made
Oh boy, here we go! On this weeks episode I am joined by a dear dear friend and a long time podcaster Mr. William Smith from the Gentlemen's Guide to Midnight Cinema. The GGTMC was the first real genre podcast I got into and they have just reached 500 episodes. The podcast has created a community of likeminded people who follow the GGTMC way of looking at cinema. I have always felt Will is my transatlantic equal when it comes to film and it was a joy to finally get together and chew the fat. The GGTMC can be found at https://ggtmc.libsyn.com/ or wherever you get your podcasts. Film - Predator 2Intro Music - Iron Sequel ThemeOutro Music - Metalucifer - Heavy Metal Hunter
Episode 6 - The Long Arm of Harry Callahan
On this weeks episode I am joined by Mike "Eurocrime!" Malloy. The director of the much celebrated genre documentary Eurocrime! and an expert on all things Tough Guy cinema. It was a delight to have an expert from my favourite sub genre of cinema talk about his upcoming projects and give true insight into his chosen film. Mike's YouTube channel can be found at the following link and has a host of outtakes and blu ray extras ready for your viewing. A particular highlight is Henry Silva's touching voicemail https://www.youtube.com/user/vhsbetaselectavision/Film - Magnum ForceIntro Music - Iron Sequel ThemeOutro Music - Secret Chiefs 3 - Codex Alimentarius
Episode 5 - I Pity The Gloom
On this weeks episode I am joined by my good friend and founding member of @oldmangloomband Santos Montano. Old Man Gloom's latest albums Seminar IX: Darkness of Being and Seminar VIII: Light of Meaning are available from Profound Lore Records and available to stream on all major platforms. A Breath Of Fresh Air
It’s so refreshing to hear a film podcast where the host hasn’t got an axe to grind, doesn’t spew vitriol and doesn’t pour scorn on other people’s choices.
Instead, James (the host) is an unfiltered fan of not only the movies he’s discussing on the episode, but also the myriad titles that naturally occur in the conversations with his guests.
He’s very knowledgeable without being condescending, and his constant enthusiasm is nothing short of infectious, which is a joy to hear.
A strong recommendation for any genre film fan.
