#257 - Ian Smith - New Jersey Gym Owner Has Defied Governors Unconstitutional Orders To Close His Gym & Now Has Over 1 Million In Fines
In the past 10 months, we have built something truly special. The Atilis Gym of Bellmawr went from a struggling location with just over 100 active members to a booming community of more than 700. That community was built on the premise of hard work, all-inclusiveness, care for one another, and the positive energy of each person who walks through the door. This community is home to so many people in New Jersey, PA, and the surrounding areas.
Just like many who have been affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, The Atilis Community was forced to shut it's doors indefinitely on March 16th. Upon shutdown, the government made promises about grant money and forgivable loans made easily available for small businesses to be able to pay bills during the forced shutdown.
However, because Atilis Bellmawr has not been in operation for a full-year and does not have a full-time staff, we do not qualify for any bailout money from the government. In addition, our landlord and other service providers are not providing any additional relief to offset the effects of the shutdown.
We have suspended all billing to ensure that the members of the community were not held responsible for paying dues when they were mandated to stay home.
The community of Atilis Bellmawr is humbling asking our members and guests, friends and family, and all of the incredible people who make up that community to come together and donate to help keep our doors open, our music loud, and our barbells bending.
Please considering donating today. All funds raised will go to pay rent, utilities, and other bills during the economic shutdown. Any money that is left over from fundraising will be donated back into the community when we reopen with some donations of our own to others who have been negatively impacted by COVID-19.
Please share this campaign with your friends and family, we truly appreciate every bit of support.
#256 - The Jurgys - Popular Utah Influencers Quit Their Day Jobs & Travelled To All 50 States Living Out Of Their RV
Nellie worked at a law firm. Bryce was on the founding team of an agency called "Shareability". We worked hard during the week & played harder through the weekend. A lump was found in Nellie's chest and the "what-if's" grew rampant while we waited on results. The doctors said it was likely cancer, and it was then we realized these "careers" were only a means to the adventures we desired.
How many other people are living like this?? What if we could adventure WHILE building careers?
We decided to create "The Jurgys" to not only document the memories for our future selves & potential children but to also inspire others to adventure with their families & friends. Every week we traveled seeking adventure and hid geocache treasures to inspire the locals to get out and explore where they live! Fast forward to today and we're still at it...now working with like-minded brands and organizations that EXIST for the same results!
#255 - Noelle Pikus Pace - Silver Medal Olympian In The Women's Skeleton Has Quite The Story In + Out Of The Spotlight
Noelle Pikus-Pace's strength and speed has led her to become one of the best skeleton sliders in the world since beginning the sport in 2001. Pikus-Pace suffered a compound fracture of her lower right leg as a result of a freak accident when she was struck by a bobsled, causing her to miss the first half of the 2005-2006 season. Showing her true competitiveness and determination, Pikus-Pace recovered and had the best season of her skeleton career in 2006-2007, claiming the World Championship title in St. Moritz and finishing second overall in World Cup standings, just behind teammate Katie Uhlaender.
Pikus-Pace took a break from the sport during the 2007-2008 season to have her first child, Lacee Lynne Pace, but returned to the sport in top form again. She raced to fourth place at the 2010 Vancouver Games and announced her retirement after the final run. Just a year after having her son, Traycen, Pikus-Pace and her husband, Janson, decided she'd make a comeback and aim for a medal at the 2014 Sochi Games. Pikus-Pace swept the national team selection races series to earn her position back on the team.
Pikus-Pace is the youngest of eight children. She graduated from Utah Valley State College in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in Community Health and Physical Education and received a master's degree in Business Administration from Colorado Technical University in 2008. Pikus-Pace participated as a track and field athlete while at college, where she broke the Utah Valley University high jump record and was named first team All-American. Pikus-Pace also won the 2005 NJCAA National discuss championships. After graduating she assisted in coaching track and field at Utah Valley State College.
