Tom House on the Importance of Failing on the Path to Success

Tom House on the Importance of Failing on the Path to Success

Tom House’s resume is incredible – he was a Major League Baseball pitcher for almost a decade, though he’ll be the first to tell you that the highlight of his career actually came in the bullpen, where he caught Hank Aaron’s record-breaking 715th home run ball. His pitching career naturally led him into coaching, and he broke into the majors with the Texas Rangers, where he worked closely with hall of famer Nolan Ryan.
Tom is regarded as the only coach on the planet who has trained with Hall of Famers in baseball, football and golf, but his path to football is a unique one. He was notorious for having his pitchers throw around a football as a way of reinforcing proper biomechanics, and his work caught the eye of coaches and players outside of baseball in the early 2000’s.
Though many of our listeners may know Tom from his work coaching our Co-Founder Tom Brady throughout his career, he has also served as the personal coach to star athletes like Drew Brees, Andrew Luck, Matt Ryan, Eli Manning, Randy Johnson, Cole Hamels, and thousands of other elite professional, college, high school and youth QBs and pitchers.
This is a fascinating conversation with Tom about the lessons he has learned throughout his incredible career, the importance of mentorship, and what it’s like to work closely with so many of the top athletes in the world.
You’re going to love this conversation with the legendary Tom House! Let’s go.

Dan Buettner on Investing in Longevity and Learning from the Blue Zones

Dan Buettner on Investing in Longevity and Learning from the Blue Zones

Dan Buettner is an explorer and New York Times bestselling author who discovered the five places in the world – dubbed “blue zones” hotspots – where people live the longest, healthiest lives. If you’re unfamiliar with the blue zones, the term refers to the five areas of the world with the highest number of people per capita who live to over 100 years old.
Dan’s extensive studies of these unique populations led him to develop what he calls “power 9” – the 9 diet and lifestyle habits that he observed as a common thread that powered their longevity. Dan’s work centers on the idea that we largely control our own fate when it comes to longevity. By making the right lifestyle choices, we can set ourselves up for a longer and more vital life. His philosophy echoes what we say all the time here at TB12 – we each have a responsibility to take control over our own health & wellness.
Dan has expanded his initial blue zones research into 5 additional bestselling books, and has a new book – The Blue Zones Challenge – coming out on December 7th. The book includes a 4-week challenge based on the blue zones that's designed to help us not only change our habits, but also change the environment we create for ourselves every day.
This conversation with Dan is loaded with fascinating insights into the things we can do every day to invest in our own health and wellness in the same way people in the blue zones do. If you’re interested in maximizing your longevity, this conversation is a great place to start!

Ryan Holiday on How We Can Improve Our Lives Through Stoicism

Ryan Holiday on How We Can Improve Our Lives Through Stoicism

You may know Ryan Holiday from his most popular book, The Obstacle is the Way, or from his research into stoicism in books like The Daily Stoic or Stillness is the Key. The power of Ryan’s work is in the way he effortlessly brings the wisdom of ancient Greek and Roman philosophers into the 21st Century – packaging the principles that guided the stoics 2,300 years ago into books that can help all of us live more productive and fulfilling lives.
We’ve been eager to talk to Ryan since we launched the Keep Going Podcast, and this conversation did not disappoint! This episode is loaded with useful advice and insights, even for people who have read nearly all of Ryan’s books.
As Ryan says in our conversation, stoicism is a journey of continual improvement – a process we use day-by-day to get better as we pursue our goals. I think you’ll all find that this episode is a great place to start.
We hope you enjoy this conversation with Ryan Holiday. Let’s go

Ben Bergeron on The Power of Shared Sacrifice

Ben Bergeron on The Power of Shared Sacrifice

Ben Bergeron is a former Ironman triathlete turned CrossFit Games competitor who now trains some of the fittest athletes in the world. Ben has coached his athletes to six world championships total, and is currently the coach to the reigning Fittest Man and Fittest Woman on Earth.

One of the things about Ben that impresses me the most is his approach to mental toughness with his athletes. Ben understands that while the mindset of a champion is uncommonly rare, it doesn’t have to be, and that every one of us is capable of unlocking it. He credits mental toughness as the secret to the success of his athletes, and it was fascinating to hear Ben’s unique perspective on the principles that make up a winning mindset.

Ben has dedicated his life to helping others become the best version of themselves – a path that led him to expand from coaching to entrepreneurship. He founded CrossFit New England in 2007, where he coaches regular people on their quest to improve their fitness, health, and approach to life beyond the gym.

Ben has transformed the lives of tens of thousands of people through his coaching, and you’ll notice very quickly in this episode that he brings an incredible level of passion to everything he does. If you’re interested in developing your mindset and mental toughness, you are going to love this episode with Ben Bergeron. Let’s go!

Mike McCastle on Leaning Into The Struggle & Redefining Human Performance

Mike McCastle on Leaning Into The Struggle & Redefining Human Performance

Mike McCastle is one of the most incredible achievers we’ve had the opportunity to speak with on the Keep Going Podcast – he’s a world-renowned endurance athlete, five-time world record holder, nationally acclaimed performance coach, and as you’ll hear, a dedicated philanthropist as well.
During his 11 year stint in the U.S. Navy, Mike founded the Twelve Labors Project.  Inspired by the mythological '12 labors of Hercules’, these challenges test his physical and mental limits with the ultimate goal of pushing the limits of human potential while inspiring others to explore their own capacity for greatness.
To date, Mike has shattered the Guinness World Record for pull-ups in 24 hours, pulled a Ford F-150 for 22 miles across Death Valley, run 20 miles a day for 100 straight days, and flipped a 250-pound tire for 13 miles, among many other unbelievable feats. Mike performs these all of these challenges in the name of raising money and awareness for charitable causes like veteran suicide awareness and parkinson’s disease.
When Mike isn’t training for his Labors, he trains a variety of athletes and teams with the aim of improving performance, mental strength, leadership and team cohesion.
Our friend and former Keep Going Podcast guest Colin O’Brady sought McCastle’s help in training for his historic solo, unassisted and unsupported trek across Antarctica and man powered row across the Drake Passage.
Mike is full of amazing insights into how to intensely pursue your passion, learn from failure whenever possible, and set personal standards – all things that have driven his success and the success of his athletes. You’re going to love this candid conversation with the inspiring Mike McCastle. Let’s go!

Tom Brady on Defying Age with the TB12 Method and His Return to Foxboro

Tom Brady on Defying Age with the TB12 Method and His Return to Foxboro

Our guest today on a very special episode of the Keep Going Podcast is our co-Founder and 7x Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady.
At age 44 and fresh off of his 7th Super Bowl win, Tom entered his 22nd NFL season this Fall after spending the majority of the offseason rehabbing from reconstructive surgery on his MCL. He has picked up right where he left off in the Super Bowl, throwing for 10 TDs and over 1,000 yards in the first three games of the season and diving even further into uncharted territory for an athlete his age.
You’ll hear Tom speak candidly in this episode about how his daily habits enable him to continue to perform at the highest level, and it’s especially interesting to hear just how passionate Tom is when he talks about how the TB12 Method has impacted his life & career.
Tom is now just a few days away from returning to New England to lead his defending Super Bowl Champion Buccaneers against the Patriots in one of the most anticipated NFL games in decades. So much has been made of Tom’s return to Foxboro recently, and he was open with us about what he expects from his long-awaited return and some of the emotions he’s feeling as he prepares to play the Patriots for the first time in his career.
You’re going to love this incredible conversation with Tom Brady. Let’s go!

Longevity

I love this podcast! I’m a 36 year older window cleaner over here in the Uk, I work for myself by myself & what fascinates me most about Tom & this podcast is longevity! I love hearing the stories, plus I have even more faith & an idea of how I can’t stay in my “own game” for longer than I originally thought. Thank you
