The Lock In with Jeremy Paxman

Jeremy Paxman, of Newsnight and University Challenge fame, has decided there must be more to life than cudgelling politicians and students on TV. ‘The Lock In’ is, as he puts it, “an excuse for me to talk to people I want to hear from, in a place I want to be...the pub”. So it is that, free at last of any editorial oversight, Jeremy has been sitting down in some of London’s finest boozers to enjoy drink and conversation with an eclectic bunch of guests. There are famous ones and obscure ones, but they all have something to say and were willing to sit down with the ‘Grand Inquisitor’ in a pub (or on Zoom, in more recent times). Each and every one is a fascinating conversation. So, pull yourself a pint, pour yourself a glass of plonk, and join The Lock In. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Very refreshing listening to Jeremy on a country walk. Love all the various characters and the skilful way Jeremy reveals the layers. Would like to hear him chat to a pub landlord/lady and hear their experience of lockdown

I’ve given three episodes a go and perhaps some of the others are better but I really don’t think Paxman’s blunt / hostile style translates well to podcasts. These are interrogations, not two way conversations. The simplistic combative questions such as “why do you bother” “who cares” “why should anyone listen to you” do not land well. Not my cup of tea.
When is there a new series of Jeremy Paxman Podcast?

I’m missing this podcast. While it is impossible for Jeremy to only interview every individual you can agree or like, it is needed back on please!
