    Cristina Ferrare

Welcome to the LoDown, a podcast exploring the voices in and outside the entertainment industry and hosted by Lois Robbins.
On this episode of the LoDown, we are blessed with the presence of NY Times bestselling author, chef, TV personality, and entrepreneur Cristina Ferrare!
Cristina’s most recent book, Food For Thought: Recipes for Ultimate Mind and Body Health was inspired by her mother. Cristina discovered that certain foods looked like body parts that were actually good for those body parts! After extensive research and working with a nutritionist, she began writing a cookbook on how food affects the brain and other parts of the body. Cristina wants you to eat happy and healthy!
She also shares with us her time at Home and Family and how that immediate exit was just one chapter of many in her journey. “Life is full of chapters” and Cristina has learned plenty of patience and faith along the way. With the support of her daughters and husband, she’s embracing change and living at peace.
Currently 6 years in remission, Cristina has made it a point to remove all the BS in her life in order to live and love fully. Life can change in a moment, so it only makes sense to live in your most authentic way.
“Heal your body, protect your mind, and enrich your life.”

    Zac Posen

    Zac Posen

Welcome to the LoDown, a podcast exploring the voices in and outside the entertainment industry and hosted by Lois Robbins.
On this episode of the LoDown, we’re stepping into the fashion scene with Zac Posen, the internationally renowned fashion designer and author of Cooking with Zac: Recipes From Rustic to Refined: A Cookbook.
Starting at the age of 4 years old, Zac started designing in sketchbooks and was constantly influenced by the world around him. His father’s oil paintings were even inspirational with their fabric details. What a childhood that must’ve been!
Zac also recollects his first design with fashion icon, Naomi Campbell. After seeing his work out in the wild, she reached out to collaborate. And before you know it, they were bonding creating something incredible.
He loves, loves, LOVES designing dresses for those close to his heart. These special projects take on a very intimate labor of love for Zac. They are just as special and significant to him as they are for his clients. As he mentions, “you gotta love what you do. Being a designer is a lifetime investment.”
Zac doesn’t know what the future holds for him yet, but he’s hoping that sustainability will play a larger role in the fashion industry. As the world changes, it’s important to start focussing on reducing excess waste and searching for more accessible, sustainable materials. He wants those timeless pieces AND to save the environment, too!

Be sure to follow Zac on Instagram (@zacposen) and Twitter (@zac_posen). And even just Googling “Zac Posen designs” is a great rabbit hole to go down too!

    Travis Van Winkle

Welcome to the LoDown, a podcast exploring the voices in and outside the entertainment industry and hosted by Lois Robbins. On this episode of the LoDown, we get to enjoy the ever so thoughtful Travis Van Winkle. Some of you may know him from season 3 of Netflix’s You as Cary Conrad or even as Danny Green from The Last Ship.  We take a dive into learning more about Travis’s career and how he went from a 20 year old model for Ambercrombie & Fitch to acting in movies and television alongside fellow peers such as Justin Long and Penn Bagdley. I mean, the man was made for the screen!
No one can deny that Travis is a total heartthrob, but did you know that he’s all about the Baháʼí Faith? Well, Travis takes us on a philosophical journey through his discovery of the enlightening religion. He talks about how he found a community that inspires him and focuses on giving back to others.
Which brings us to another amazing fact about Travis: He’s a global ambassador for Build On, a non-profit organization that builds schools in developing countries.

    Julia Haart

    Julia Haart

Welcome to the LoDown, a podcast exploring the voices in and outside the entertainment industry and hosted by Lois Robbins.
On this episode of the LoDown, Lois leaves no stone unturned in her interview with Julia Haart, the author of Brazen: My Unorthodox Journey from Long Sleeves to Lingerie.
If you haven’t seen Julia in her Netflix show, My Unorthodox Life, where have you been?? Julia blesses us with the experience of what it was like to leave an extremist religious background and start a new life as an independent woman.
She opens up about her childhood (or lack thereof) and about raising all of her siblings until she got married at 19. She even mentions one of the naughtiest things she did as a kid and it’s not what you’d think!
Even though married life was no walk in the park, she still found joy in her children. They truly give her the strength to keep fighting for freedom and achieving her dreams.
Julia is and always will be a fighter and that’s just one of the many reasons why we love her! We hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did and don’t forget to check out her book!

    Wendi McLendon-Covey

    Wendi McLendon-Covey

Welcome to the LoDown: a podcast, hosted by Lois Robbins, exploring the voices in and outside the entertainment industry.
On this episode of the LoDown, Lois speaks with the talented and fierce Wendi McLendon-Covey, who just so happens to be joining from the comfort of her closet floor.
Wendi reflects on 9 seasons worth of raising TV children as the iconic Beverly Goldberg. Even off-screen, she can’t help but check up on them! Wendi’s also so grateful to have some of Beverly’s can do and WILL DO attitude rub off on her in real life.
Lois and Wendi also reminisce on Wendi’s early years at The Groundlings and how she went from having a class with Kristin Wiig and Melissa McCarthy to doing a table read of Bridesmaids.
Wendi also shares some tough love when it comes to auditions. They can smell the desperation from a mile away. So you just need to hide your neediness. Easy, right? Once she changed her mentality about auditions and stopped second guessing herself, it made them that much more enjoyable!

    Sharon Gless

    Sharon Gless

Welcome to the LoDown, a podcast exploring the voices in and outside the entertainment industry and hosted by Lois Robbins.
On this episode of the LoDown, Lois speaks with the multiple Emmy and Golden Globe winning actress, Sharon Gless! Generations of fans know her from her iconic roles such as Christine Cagney (Cagney & Lacey), Rosie O’Neill (The Trials of Rosie O’Neill), Debbie Novotny (Queer As Folk) and Madeline Westen (Burn Notice), among many others.
Without giving too much away from her book, Apparently There Were Complaints, Sharon talks about some of the most memorable moments from her career. Even though it took her 7 years to write it, the juicy stories inside were well worth the wait.
Sharon also discusses the journey of her Cagney & Lacey character’s alcoholism and how there were times her acting was a little too convincing for the media. She opens up about the realities of her personal struggles with alcoholism and how she’s an even stronger person because of it.
Lois and Sharon also reminisce about the groundbreaking show, Queer As Folk. At a time when the LGBTQIA+ was scarcely represented, Sharon was so grateful to be part of a show that supported the gay and queer community. She never forgot all the fan letters thanking her for giving them the support they needed.
Sharon is a firecracker gal with an incredibly big heart. This episode is definitely one for the books!
