    Rose Red

    Rose Red

Fun fact: Rose Red was originally conceived as a feature film for Steven Spielberg in 1996. Stephen King envisioned it as a loose remake of Robert Wise's 1963 film The Haunting (in other words, a take on the beloved Shirley Jackson novel The Haunting of Hill House). Instead, it was reworked years later as a TV miniseries that became a ratings smash for ABC in 2002. Several members of the Losers’ Club even recall watching it when it first aired. Now, 20 years later, they’ve gathered to revisit the estate’s phantom halls. Join the Losers as they discuss the series’ impressively bizarre ensemble, its wretched CGI, and the surprise tragedy that nearly derailed production.

    Black House

    Black House

Stephen King and Peter Straub's Black House is an odd duck, a behemoth of a sequel (to The Talisman) that’s as grisly as it is hilarious. In this episode, the Losers grapple with the story’s tonal irregularities and celebrate its unbridled nastiness. They also discuss its role as a narrative bridge in King’s Dark Tower saga, and how its portrait of Mid-World dovetails with the fantasy world of The Talisman. Is its stark portrait of good and evil simplistic or subversive?

I don’t actually know anyone personally who reads Stephen King and I’m a huge fan of his, so I love hearing the different opinions in this podcast and the losers often pick up on things I missed or have a different take.
I feel like I know the different contributors now, I’ll be reading a King book that I know the losers have done an episode for and I’ll be thinking things like “Randall will like that” or “Mel will definitely mention that line”!
They bounce off each other so well and have kept me laughing and positive on some difficult lockdown days last year. Thank you losers 😊❤️

Oh dear!

I’m not sure these beta males are actually King fans, I think they started this podcast purely as an device to display their rampant virtue signalling. Every episode they tut loudly with neo-puritanical vigour over everything that isn’t a Twitter trope - which is most things because a large part of Kings work was written before people forgot the world existed before they did

One of my favourite podcasts (along with Halloweenies) - slowly working my way through the books just so I can listen to the episodes
