    Jamie is a performing theatre actor for In On The Act, a young actors theatre company based primarily at Wakefield's Theatre Royal. With an interest in drama and performance from a relatively young age, Jamie has since gone on to achieve an honours degree in performing arts in addition to assuming the role of Billy Casper in a stage adaptation of the often praised, British cultural mainstay 'Kez' and as 'Bottom' in A Midsummer Night's Dream.

    Ric is a songwriter and performer with four live piano albums under his own name, including Ric Neale Does Pet Sounds, a Beach Boys cover album, and Lullabies For Parents, in addition to several records with his previous band; The Housekeeping Society.
    Collaboration lies at the heart of much of Ric's creative output. He was the musical director and a performer in Dancing Bear, a sell-out theatre show with Jamie Fletcher and company, a co-writer and performer of Never Worn, an Ernest Hemingway inspired theatre piece with spoken word artist Rob Reed and 45RPM a piece written in partnership with visual artist Pete McKee for the art exhibition Thud, Crackle and Pop.
    Ric also hosts a monthly piano residency; Monochrome at Wakefields Jolly Tap and has lectured the craft of songwriting, across the world, for over 10 years.
    We discuss the relationship between teaching and learning, the make and play states, the science & magic of art, finding good problems in songwriting, honouring the instrument, the humans in the room, the variables of music, the natural progression of an artist, ownership & art, the effect of external factors on success, the function of music, false perceptions of craft and muscle memory in craft.

    Joe is the head chandler at Worship the Scent, an independent, soy-based candle and wax melt patisserie. Joe's primary interest is in fragrance and perfumery but is also a keen supporter and advocate of LGBTQ+ rights. As a result of these two motivating forces, the truest picture of Joe's creative output is one that keeps both scent and charity in the foreground. Joe is also colourblind, often working in tandem with his partner; concept artist Storm Bilton (Inktinkboy).

    Gus is a producer, mixer and mastering engineer based out of Gafro Studios in Elland, Leeds. Despite opting out of any formal training in music technology Gus has since gone on to design, build and equip his own purpose-built, professional-quality recording space completely from scratch. Gus is an experienced vocalist with specialist training by industry experts Ken Tamplin, Jaime Vendera and Eli Prensen and has competed in various amateur bouldering competitions. 
    We spoke about creativity as problem-solving, simulating experiences, defying stereotypes, the illusion of easy successes, simplifying things and removing unnecessary obstacles, experimentation in the recording studio, articulating the idea of art, the recording studio as a tool for songwriting, collaboration, writing music outside of your genre and science & art.

Storm is a qualified coffee shop barista and a member of the LGBTQ+ community.

Rather enjoyable

Really enjoying the podcast. I haven’t found another that takes this angle on creativity, it’s very interesting to hear different views on what they feel creativity is. Some great stories too 👍🏻👍🏻
