How can we tackle food waste in the UK?
For the first episode of our second series, our host Elliot Chrisp is joined by fellow MULTIVAC UK colleague and Director of Key Accounts, David Church, and Kitty Langton, Press and PR Manager from FareShare UK.
Fareshare UK is the UK's largest national network of charitable food redistributors who take good quality surplus food from all areas of the food industry, and get it to nearly 8,500 frontline charities and community groups.
Believing that no food should go to waste, FareShare redistribute food that is nutritious and good to eat, which is then turned into meals. The food reaches a range of charities across the UK, including school breakfast clubs, older people's lunch clubs, homeless shelters, and community cafes. Every week enough food is provided to create almost a million meals for vulnerable people. Pretty impressive, right?
Answering a selection of questions which have been asked by our fellow listeners, Elliot, David and Kitty look at how much food is wasted, how food manufacturers and UK households can help, and what UK retailers are doing to encourage a reduction.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy a cuppa with the next episode of The MULTIVAC Podcast!
