The Nick Margerrison podcast.

Former Kerrang! Radio & LBC presenter Nick Margerrison's fortnightly podcast is a continuation of his often eclectic radio career.

Building on the legacy of the critically acclaimed first series "The Cult Of Nick" this podcast looks at how topics which were explored back then are now considered to be the bare bones of what is frequently termed 'the intellectual dark web'.

A proud Discordian Nick's take is always sincere but never too serious.

Once Upon A Time

Once upon a time there was a young but simple man called Nicholas, simply known as ‘Nick.’ Nick was very good at talking. One day he was looking out of the window the thought of an idea. “In order to earn some gold coins I could talk for a living.” He started to talk, and people started to listen. More and more people began to listen to him through a wireless.

Time passed.

One day he started his own following – The Cult of Nick. “What is so good about him?” one woman asked. “He’s clever,” said another. “He’s a philosopher!” another claimed. Indeed, but he had a touch of the esoteric about him and so he reinvented himself and came back - as the Nick Margerrison Podcast. It was a little bit more down-to-earth, a little bit more of what people could understand and so he began to attract even more people. His audience loved his work. “His voice is great!” a lady said. “It is, but there are some terrible voices on the radio. Thank God his is not!” Another added, “He is the Pied Piper of podcasting!”

By now Nick had attracted a great following.

The world had fallen into a great slumber. As word travelled around the globe of his work, there was a stirring amongst the masses. People could be heard talking about him in the street. One man said, “I pledge myself to his teachings every month!” It was almost like a potion. If you took this regularly your mind would heal. Or you plant a seed. You feed it and nurture it and it grows and becomes bigger and stronger. That’s a bit like the mind. Or imagine it’s a closed box. You have to find the key in order to open it. Nick wanted people to wake up from their slumber. He wanted people to think outside the box. Be open to the possibilities. Not to believe everything The Sheriff Of Downing Street’s forces may tell you, or the supreme ruler of the land may say. “Free thinkers, we are,” said Nick. “Our voices must continue to be heard.”

Nick continued to talk about things that others would only whisper about. He continued to discuss things that the news sellers on the street wouldn’t dare speak of, but it was the truth, or at least, it wasn’t a lie. “Did we land on the moon in 1969? Are our rulers crocodiles from another dimension? What happens after we die? Can we control our dreams from within? Are there aliens here on earth? What are we not been told? Can we trust our leaders?” Nick knew that unless we talked about these things we would never find the answers.

Nick became the best in the land. Nick started out with a very simple pair of home-made shoes. By now though he was wearing the best. Fit for a king. His honesty and teachings, charisma and charm brought him many listeners from far away lands. He had collected a few gold coins, amassed a great following and now he was happy. And so were his flock. “Join us,” he said.

As far as we know he continues to live happily ever after.

One of the best shows out there

Nick brings a wealth of experience to his new show mixing fringe with mainstream with some clever production tricks thrown in. His humble & open style of commentry coupled with his no nonsense/honest interview technique leaves little to complain about....except... my only complaint is that he doesn't make the show regular enough.
