This podcast is an absolute tonic 😉
The tales are grim but the hosts are not! Nick and Sinead have a brilliant rapport and tell these grisly tales in such a way you’ll be hooked. The cases are dark, interesting, well researched and brilliantly told.
So are you ready to drink cocktails and talk about poisons? Or drink poisons and talk about cocktails? ☠️🖤
I love this podcast! I found my way here from Real Life Ghost Stories (go check them out too they’re fab).
The balance between humour and all-seriousness is great, if Sinead wasn’t cackling along the stories would be a bit heavy to swallow (aye aye). Thank you for getting me through quarantine without going insane guys!
It is often said that one should wait until a podcast has 5 episodes before diving in, for this is how long it takes most to get into their stride. If one was to binge the first five episodes of this podcast, drinking the cocktails along with the charming hosts, then you may find that your own poisoning becomes the subject of one of their episodes. But fear not! Like an expertly mixed Martini, this podcast is strong from the first sip!
Nick and Sinead’s personalities bounce off each other beautifully and they both lend a playfulness reminiscent of late Victorian fairground barkers, beckoning the listener forth to listen, drink and be merry. And guess what? You’ll learn something too. Not least that your family ARE trying to kill you.
The stories are well chosen, thoroughly researched and Nick and Sinead have their own equally entertaining interpretations that somehow succeed in striking that tricky balance between finding the humour in the frequent absurdity of the poisonings, preserves the tone of their era and yet is respectful to the victims. Bravo! I’ll drink a dram of arsenic to your success! Oh no...
