176 episodes

The Random Wrestling Review is an explicit mess of in-depth wrestling analysis and puerile humour which focuses on a single event from any point in history and breaks it down crudely and with no apologies. The podcast is currently trawling through the history of Wrestlemania, covering each event one-by-one, taking in the good, the bad, the ugly and the nonsense. Previously, we featured shows stretching from 1984 through to 2021 from a variety of promotions including WWE, WCW, AEW, ECW, NWA, NXT and AWA, so there is bound to be something you like when you join Ben, Tom, Matt and Stephen as they seek out the perfect wrestling show. Listeners beware, this show is not suitable for young ears!

    WWE The Big Event (1986)

Pushing even further back into history this week on The Random Wrestling Review, we take on WWE's stadium show in Toronto in the Summer of 1986, as the company brought 'The Big Event' to Canada. The show was headlined by Hulk Hogan's defence of the WWE Title against long time rival 'Mr Wonderful' Paul Orndorff and also includes Jake 'The Snake' Roberts versus Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat in a Snake Pit Match as well as Harley Race clashing with Pedro Morales in a potential 'dream match'.

RWR Now: Twist, Stick or Bust (WWE Smackdown Roster)

RWR Now: Twist, Stick or Bust (WWE Smackdown Roster)

Following our episode a few weeks back where we went through the entire WWE Raw Roster and determined whether we would Stick (keep them in the position they currently are in), Twist (give them a push) or Bust (use them in a lesser role, or release them), it's time for the Smackdown roster to get the same treatment. Remember: this is just for fun- we don't wish anybody out of a job...

    WWE Survivor Series 1988

    WWE Survivor Series 1988

The early tag line for the Survivor Series was 'Teams of 5 Strive to Survive' and while that was an accurate description of 3 of the 4 matches on the 2nd annual Survivor Series event, there was also the sight of a mighty 10 versus 10 struggle that lasted for over 40 minutes and included the Hart Foundation, British Bulldogs, Rockers, Demolition, Brain Busters, Fabulous Rougeaus and The Powers of Pain, amongst others. This show also featured the latest event in the slow break up of the Mega Powers, a double turn involving Mr Fuji changing allegiance between two teams, and Bad News Brown walking out on his partners in a way only Bad News Brown can.

The Game: The 2023 PWI 500

The Game: The 2023 PWI 500

It's the penultimate match in Round Robin where we are looking to crown a Champion of the The Game! This time around Alex and Old Man face the test of naming people in the PWI 500 from the 2023 list. Old Man's challenge for the overall title collapsed in his last 2 matches and so is now just playing for pride, meanwhile, 'Rockstar' Alex is still undefeated after 2 matches and goes into this one guaranteed to still have a chance of winning the overall title, no matter what happens here. Not quite a dead rubber for Alex however, as a win would ensure that he would hold the slimmest of advantages going into the last match of the round robin, against Stephen Coriander.

WWE King of the Ring 2000

WWE King of the Ring 2000

In a strange turn of events, it transpired that at the King of the Ring 2000, the WWE Title would be defended in a 6-man tag match, as Champion Triple H, lined up alongside his in-laws, Shane and Vince McMahon against The Rock, Undertaker and Kane- the stipulation being that if any member of The Rock's team should pin any member of Triple H's, then that man would become Champion. In addition to the strange booking of the main event, the tournament looked set for a few classics along the way, as Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle and Eddie Guerrero all took their place in the bracket- would WWE take advantage of the situation...? Find out on this week's show...

    The RWR 25

You've heard of the PWI 500 and the PS 50, well now it's time for the RWR 25- a similar idea but with a twist, because this is the definitive ranking of the 25 best wrestlers in the history of...this podcast.

Great podcast

Have had a lot of time up in the night over the last six months with a new baby, and this podcast has been a great companion to me. Love the format, love the tone, really enjoy listening to episodes about shows I’ve seen, and equally enjoy eps about shows I haven’t seen too. Thanks lads for being friendly voices in my ear all hours of the night.

Lovely Stuff!

Great listen for any long time wrestling fan. Brings back memories of past Pro Wrestling shows. Often makes me laugh to myself on my walk to work.
