The Rest Is Entertainment

I really love this podcast but agree with the last review. Pre ‘Club’ it felt like all the energy and entertainment was produced for all, now it feels like the warm-up for the main event which you have to pay for to get. I also listen to The Rest is History and don’t get the same vibe from that

Poor Richard. Can’t get a word in because his co presenter loves the sound of her voice.

I cannot listen to her machine gun-like delivery any longer. She needs to slow down. Awful.

This once fresh and informative podcast feels less essential as the matey celebrity dynamic , constant ads and trivial content presented as behind the scenes insight threatens to overshadow the once fascinating content. Marina who is whip smart and funny remains the better broadcaster and journalist and Richard the popular public figure who loves mainstream telly is the enthusiastic self promoting co-host with an increasing love of repetitive man’splaining. To give an example in a recent episode Richard repeated at least 4 times the process around how Would I Lie To You works. This is exasperating and a sign of poor editing. Cynically it fills up the running time and I could also say it’s a cash grab as the listener fanbase is promised less of this meandering and ad onslaught behind the paywall. I’m not convinced as I think the quality of the show in general has slipped. Also I’m not paying the same amount as I could for streaming a whole trench of TV for a couple of chatty podcasts a week. I’ll still listen and scroll through the dull bits for free, but it’s not the great format it once was. Sad but there you are….Is it time for Marina to leave Wham?
