The Rest Is Politics: US

I have mixed feelings about this podcast - I like the Mooch, but they don't post frequently enough to make a subscription worthwhile. To the person who posted a review (on the wrong podcast btw) a day ago banging on about the blue pill...what a sheep she must be. Or maybe a Maga troll. These podcasts, TRIP UK or TRIP US, are lively and interesting and informative. Those who follow them have the right not to be trolled by people who don't like the views contained in them. So whoever you are, laura invested, our beliefs are as valid as yours, without any pills, blue OR red. You need to brush up on your terminology. Populism" is not the same as "what is popular". Populism is demagogy, a movement that whips up opinion and appeals to the lowest common denominator in people. Popularity is something different. The NSDAP were populist but they weren't popular. They never achieved a legal majority. Definitely time to smash populism.

Really enjoy this podcast. The two presenters work well together and as I live in the UK, it presents great insights into the US political machinations. Well worth a subscription as both ad free and gives you access to their series for instance on Ronald Reagan which is great.

Your analysis does not take into account the fact that the world is beginning to look beyond, and will move on from the USA. Allies have been abused, and the US has abused the position of responsibility ceded to them by the rest of the world. Ukraine had been sold out. Gulf allies were compromised and abandoned. China is rising, they are not perfect but, they have learned lessons from the West. It is now getting to a point where one is actually beginning to seriously question this narrative that Iran was ever on the verge of holding a nuclear weapon - 47 years???!!!. Why should Iran accommodate the US demands now? Between sanctions and their government, the people have suffered for years. They are survivors. Is Iran more of a danger, or more repressive than Russia, North Korea or China? Why doesn’t the US start a war with those countries ? Why should Israel have a nuclear weapon - which it pretends it doesn’t have - when it is committing genocide and ethnically cleansing in Palestine and Lebanon? Is Israel not a clear and present danger to the rest of the Middle East. All the reporting confirms that that last thing Israel wants is a ceasefire, and that they would be happy to stir things deeper officiant for all the Gulf Stares to be rippled. Trump ripped up the JCPOA the best chance of monitoring nuclear enrichment in Iran. Attacked twice in the middle of negotiations. Yet, all the blame, for everything is on Iran. Meanwhile the US President is playing games with dangerous words, as if he is dealing with retards. That can’t be right. It’s exhausting. All said, I do enjoy your show. I’m just tired. So tired. This affects the whole world. It’s exhausting and worrying.

Both hosts are clearly erudite and passionate. They have interesting takes. My gripe is their tendency to talk over each other. The show doesn’t flow as well as other Goal Hanger shows.
