Top movie podcast
Superb, funny and informative podcast about all the movies I love. 10/10
Mixed bag
An odd podcast in many ways that seems to flit between cordial and ostracising. As you’d expect the overall quality varies depending on what film is being discussed and who is discussing it. Certain combinations have a weird frat boyish vibe, which is a bit of a turn off when the people involved are in their 40s and 50s. Constant sports analogies exclude any listener who doesn’t have an active interest in American sports. Can’t fault the overall enthusiasm which, most of the time, is enough to sustain the overall format.
Who the fudge is Dion Waiters?
This is a great movie podcast and I’ve binged so many of their episodes over the last few months that other podcasts have been pushed aside from my regular listening diet. The hosts are mostly well versed in film and have done their research but… there’s something preventing this from ever getting that fifth star and that’s the endless sport’s comparisons. If one thing is going to get me grinding my teeth it’s when a movie podcast is perpetually littered with basketball and baseball analogies, references and comparisons. American’s gushing over their yawn-inducing stats-heavy sports has no place in a movie podcast. I know Bill and co. are sports guys but the endless sport’s references are just too much. What was initially a minor distraction has become something of a major bugbear for me. I’ll probably keep listening for now but please guys, keep the sports stuff for sports podcasts and just keep the chat relevant.
