Divorce rates amongst entrepreneurs are statistically extremely high compared to other groups. (as much as 50% according to some surveys.) This interview between Jane Bayler and Donna Hart, a Family Lawyer & Director/Shareholder at The Family Law Co, looks at the reasons why, as well as what to do in the event of an entrepreneurial marital breakdown.
Donna specialises in divorce and the financial matters resulting from marriage and civil partnership breakdowns, especially where there are significant assets, pensions and other complex matters such as businesses or Trusts. She also prepares pre-nuptial and cohabitation agreements, along with separation agreements.
There is a need for sensitivity and respect for the family in all circumstances and this is at the heart of Donna’s approach. As a divorced entrepreneur herself, Jane is particularly keen for others in similar situations to emerge with both their dignity and a fair share of assets, so they can maintain cordial relations and inter-generational family bonds, wherever possible.
