Surviving climate change, resource depletion, the energy crisis - and staying profitable

    Tipping Point

    Tipping Point

Are we at a tipping point? On the point of runaway climate disaster? A tipping point as mass extinction accelerates out of control? Or a tipping point as politicians and public realise it’s time to act?

    Going Vegan?

    Going Vegan?

Nations suing governments, deforestation and population, and CO2 as a fuel. XR protests continue and the government claims activists shouldn't break the law - while preparing to do just that.
But first, let’s talk about diet. If we’re environmentalists should we be vegan?
    Your feedback always welcome!

    And Finally...

    And Finally...

Last episode before I close down for August. Hold tight - there’s a lot to get in.
I’ll be talking about transport, climate, too much water, too little water, energy, campaigns and opinions and I chat briefly about pollution with Julia Hartley-Brewer on Talk Radio. There are pages of links to all these stories on the blog at www.sustainablefutures.report. This is probably the longest episode I’ve done at 6,700 words, but then, you’ve got a whole month to enjoy it.

    All the lovely people

    All the lovely people

How much time do you spend on line? Can we surf the net indefinitely, or are we reaching the point where browsing time must be capped?. Is that a fridge over there? No, it’s a 60kWh storage unit - but not a battery. Before you knock that building down think of all the embedded carbon! But first, some thoughts about population.

Good content on sustainable ancient and climate change

Anthony does know his stuff and is really responsive to emails. Gathers up the most pertinent news stories on climate and sustainability for a quick weekly podcast. One of my most valued subscriptions without a doubt.

Anthony Day knows his stuff

I have known Anthony for a long time. He is an eloquent speaker and really knows about sustainability. I will be recommending this podcast to students wanting to get into this field a it is a quick way to understand the issues. Keep the regular podcast Anthony - it is great content!

Green but increasingly Red

Anthony Day has a practical and wide-ranging knowledge of what citizens and communities can do to resist the degradation of our world as we struggle with waste, overpopulation and those who profit by denying that climate change is happening. The back-catalogue contains a lot of guests who are well qualified to address these problems, in terms of their position and knowledge.

In recent months the podcast has become increasingly political, and perhaps this reflects the ground that has been lost but I for one find it distasteful. This is a podcast that used to report on how companies could find good economic reasons to clean up their act, and how individuals could still do good things to reduce environmental strain, regardless of which pack of jokers currently inhabit the White House or Downing Street.

Mr Day is butthurt about Brexit: we get it. He’s a socialist in a nation that’s turning away from socialism: we get it. But should that be a recurring theme from the Sustainable Futures Report? Well… that’s up to the podcaster, of course. If you want your eco-news with an increasingly unsubtle left-wing bias, enjoy… just as I enjoyed the older episodes.
